^^ What do you mean? The first few floors (lobby + residential) look fine. The large parking garage at the base of the tower will be covered up by plenty of greenery and park space, so I don't see why that would hurt the aesthetics of this building. -See page 1 for what I'm talking about.

Nick, your first shot of july 5th is awesome. Working, dangling, smoking all at once. Shows how badass those workers are.

Great pics Nick!

Unfortunately they too clearly show the base of this tower taking form and it is terrible. Way too busy. The tower is fine after the first few floors.

If by that you mean the blank wall, that will not be visible in the final form. Just look at a rendering :koko:

It looks like this is the cantilevered deck as shown in the renderings.

Yep, and once they finish the lobby and get to uniformed floor plates it will start to fly.

I love that moody third shot

This one feels like it's taking forever.

Agreed. Work started over a year ago with site clearing, etc. and we're only 3-4 stories off the ground. I know there are valid reasons but it really has felt like a crawl every time I walk by.

Frame this and sell it. It's such a great composition.

Keep in mind that there is ~7 levels below grade and all of the soil retention that goes along with building on the river. Also the first few levels above grade are lobby/atrium so there is not much uniformity right now. Once we get past this phase and start getting to "normal" floor plates it'll start shooting up.

I know, plus the site had some minor flooding issues once or twice this spring, and who knows what else crews have run into.

I fish the river a lot and every time I go by, very little appears to have been done. My girlfriend always asks me what the hell is taking them so long. I imagine a lot of non-SSP people out there are wondering the same thing, even though there are a myriad of valid reasons.

Last I heard it was running on schedule but who knows. I agree though. When you see a project almost daily it seems as if there is no progress. Good news is, it's a good problem to have. Coming from rust belt cities that have a project like this come along once every...never.. years, this Metropolis has no shortage of amazing projects to follow closely.

The lower floors are no doubt tricky. Walsh is also known to be slower in their concrete cycles than the big concrete subcontractors (McHugh, Adjustable, Goebel... and more recently Pepper). For instance 1326 S Michigan (Walsh) has a 5-day cycle versus Essex (Adjustable) at 3-day for similar size floor plates. NEMA (McHugh) once they passed the final setback and got to a similar size floor plate as those two projects also is on a 3-day. I'm not sure how big the WPE floor plate is when they get to typical floors, but I would expect their cycle to be a little longer than if one of the big concrete guys was doing it.
