Waiting on APS to underground the overhead power lines in the alley first.

We have four projects currently above 300’. Hopefully this trend continues for future projects.

Equipment is no longer there :/

CrestedSaguaro Mar 15, 2023 3:36 PM

They are shooting for a mid-May groundbreaking for X Roosevelt. Of course that depends upon APS burying the power lines as IndyAZ pointed out.

901 N. Central Ave

Have some updated stuff for 901 N. Central (where the former car repair shop is on the NE corner of Central and Garfield).

Height is 339' @30 stories, 344 units and 142 parking spots. Looks like the plan is to still save some of the existing building.

I love the different shades of green hue on the North side.
I hope they keep that and it translates over to real life. It adds a little color. Downtown needs more color. I still wish we had more skyline lights like what Stewart has.

Would that be Realm Phoenix?

Realm Phoenix is the tower in the rendering across from the Westward Ho. The one going in the farmer's market lot is Vela Phoenix, in addition to that, there's another one planned across the alley along 1st st.

Is there any info on Vela anywhere?

I was swinging downtown this morning to get some breakfast (work from home today) and the entire stretch from VanBuren to Roosevelt is a forest of cranes

and we still have more to go! Good times!

I think the renderings on their Instagram are from 601 N. Central, and the information posted this week is for 901 N. Central (at least I didn't see any 901 renderings on a cursory glance). That won't be confusing at all, hope they have names more distinctive than their addresses!

Developer seeks grant for restoration of historic Phoenix motel

Nice to see this moving along...

https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...ter-motel.html

Quote:

Atlanta-based EV Hotel Group is seeking a $150,000 grant to help with costs in redeveloping and preserving the former City Center Motel in downtown Phoenix.

The company is planning to build one of its first smart hotels around a portion of the existing motel, which had most recently been used as a Travelodge by Wyndham.

EV Hotel Group initially planned to demolish the entire property but eventually agreed to preserve and incorporate the main historical structure into its new hotel. It also received approval for historic preservation zoning for a portion of the site in November 2022.

I was downtown this weekend checking out the Realm construction. The power lines are still up in the alley which and the poles are much bigger and right in the middle of Realm's construction. I take it it's not a requirement to remove the lines first prior to construction? I'm guessing they're not live, but still seems to be a safety issue

So Realm is moving ahead with construction with power lines in the alley, but X Roosevelt is held up because of them?

Regarding 901 N. Central, I don't see how they are preserving any of the existing vintage car repair shop building... Maybe that curved portion on the ground floor, which looks nice BTW, is just a 'nod' to the old structure? Or is there some sort of curved roof under the existing older facade makeover of the existing structure that isn't apparent currently?
