Foundation work is underway at 606 West 30th Street, a 545-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Also known as Tower B in a two-building development along with 601 West 29th Street, the 42-story structure is designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and is being developed by Lalezarian Properties. The property will yield 312,350 square feet, with 192,780 square feet designated to residential space and 14,240 square feet for commercial use. There will be 260 residences averaging 741 square feet apiece. Some of the homes are planned to be rentals, but the exact breakdown has not been revealed.

A recent photo shows the state of work at the site, which is located along West 30th Street between Eleventh Avenue and West Street. Excavation and pilings proceeded throughout the first months of the year, and now construction is approaching street level. A large amount of steel rebar is laid down and awaiting the final concrete pour for the sub-level portion of 606 West 30th Street. Tower A is already several stories above ground, as seen in the background of the photo.

The renderings from Ismael Leyva Architects show a modestly tall superstructure with a glass curtain wall, several corner balconies, a vertically-oriented rectangular cutout in the middle of the northern elevation. This gesture will likely contain an outdoor terrace that overlooks the High Line and Hudson Yards. The design culminates in a sleek crown with a flat roof parapet. Residential amenities have not been revealed, except for a 30-foot-long rear yard and 56-space parking garage. The nearest subway is the 7 train at the Hudson Yards station, located between 50 and 55 Hudson Yards.

A completion date for 606 West 30th Street has not been announced, but it looks like sometime in late 2021 or early 2022 is conceivable.

YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for new renderings of Ismael Leyva Architects’ 606 West 30th Street, a 545-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper on the border of West Chelsea and Hudson Yards. Also referred to as Tower B in a two-building development along with 601 West 29th Street, the project is being developed by Lalezarian Properties and will yield 312,350 square feet. Of that, 192,780 square feet will be designated to residential space and 14,240 square feet for commercial use. The program will feature both condominiums and rentals, but the exact breakdown not been announced yet.

The day and nighttime renderings illustrate the look of 606 West 30th Street’s glass curtain wall at various heights. The first two reveal the overall perspective of the skyscraper looking southwest from above the High Line. The rectangular cutout in the center of the northern elevation appears to have some greenery placed just behind the nearly five-and-a-half-story wall of suspended glass. This section is highlighted in the evening depiction with bright, warm lighting.

This area desperately needs some non-blue glass buildings.

Hopefully P2 of HY adds a little more variety. 8 potential more towers in Phase II that could add a little spice to the area. Something different. We are bound to get more variety.

450 11th Avenue is a start, which is u/c.

Yes, really! A phenomenal job!

Is it also possible to show that last photo with just the buildings that are complete. so we can get a greater feel for the transformation that is incoming? (only if it's easy to do, of course)

Of course! Very easy. I plan on making YouTube animations showing exactly this.

‘Tower A’ Continues Rapid Ascent At 601 West 29th Street In Hudson Yards

https://newyorkyimby.com/wp-content/...636874316.jpeg

Quote:

Construction is now several floors above street level at 601 West 29th Street, a 58-story residential skyscraper in West Chelsea on the border with Hudson Yards. Known as Tower A in a two-building development along with 606 West 30th Street, the 695-foot-tall building is designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development.

Recent photos show the reinforced concrete superstructure ascending above the horizontally extruded, L-shaped podium on the corner of West 29th Street and Eleventh Avenue. The most recently formed floors are wrapped in scaffolding and the safety cocoon. Progress has been swift since our last update on July 1, when the podium floors were still being constructed. Meanwhile, foundation work is progressing on the adjacent Tower B, which will rise within the footprint of Tower A.

Little information has been disclosed regarding the home layouts and amenities. Nonetheless, residents will be treated to clear views of Hudson Yards, the Hudson River, the High Line and Chelsea, the Lower Manhattan skyline, and New York Harbor. The lack of any tall superstructures to the immediate south will facilitate these vistas. We can expect 601 West 29th Street to continue at its current pace of construction, and possibly accelerate once it surpasses the southern setback along West 29th Street. A flat roof parapet will cap the edifice.
