Not sure if this page was shared or not. There is a really good promotional video halfway down the page.

great find, wish it were taller and a bit bolder but we're getting a nice tower. some stills:

Beautiful!

Very impressive stills and video.

Two things:

1-Does this building use aluminum (unpainted) mullions instead of white metal mullions like WPE? I'm having a hard time discerning.

2-I really like the taller, metal legs on WPS in place of the limestone legs on WPE. The building looks more cohesive.

Looks epic

Chi-Sky21 Dec 29, 2020 1:19 AM

at least it kinda looks like they can light up the top, hopefully with various colors

ORD2010 Dec 29, 2020 1:57 AM

Did they ever light the crown of WPE? its got the same treatment as salesforce I believe, i was looking forward to seeing both lit up like Legacy @MP but better.

Fifth photo there is total bs. Unless the tower is suddenly 1000 feet tall, it won't be that much bigger than the new BOA tower

For sure...in fact, I'd say it looks to be at least 1200'-1300' in that rendering. Just sloppy? There's no need for some sort of wild exaggeration like that, as this can certainly be rendered from perspectives that make it appear very prominent, and taller than it is in reality.....in a plausible way

The Lurker Dec 29, 2020 6:24 PM

Anybody know what that building is where the BOA tower should be in the second rendering?

If you mean second to last rendering, that is the BOA tower. It looks a little weird b/c glass facades weren't fully installed yet.

I think just a fictional tower added to the view looking up the South Branch, for composition's sake. It helps to focus attention on Salesforce and partially blocks the light show on Merch Mart. Or possibly it covers up the view of the unfinished BOA from that angle, which would otherwise be front and center and distracting.

Looks like a made up building

Can't you see it's now planned to be taller than the Sears? It's clearly shown in this image...

ChiTownWonder Jan 2, 2021 3:21 PM

Yeah that promotional video was pretty dramatic for such a non descript tower. No doubt the office space and views in there will be first class but you have to do more as a skyscraper in Chicago than a 800 foot blue glass box that has the same crown as its 600 foot neighbor.

Steel?

Looks like they should be ready to start putting up steel. Could we see that this week?

By the size of the core which is as wide as WPE makes me think this tower is going to look massive!

110's best angle imo
