Salesforce is expected to offload as much as 125,000 square feet of office space in its 60-story namesake skyscraper in Chicago, about two months before the company is set to move into the nearly completed trophy tower.

San Francisco-based Salesforce plans to begin formally marketing a large block of its 500,000-square-foot space along the Chicago River soon, according to people familiar with its plans. Salesforce is set to move into the 1.2 million-square-foot tower, which broke ground in the early weeks of COVID-19, by late May.

It’s not yet known exactly how much space Salesforce will formally put on the sublease market, but the company already has been approached by tenants of 100,000 square feet or more interested in subleasing some of the highest-quality office space ever developed in Chicago, according to people familiar with the building.

^ For the floors they're not planning to occupy, correct? Just saw a post/article about them keeping their intended sq ft despite layoffs so this would contradict that

Decent-ish shot of the new plaza and the video-walls in the lobby.

Huh? If they're putting space on the sublease market, that is space they were planning to occupy (part of the lease they signed) but no longer are. They are just a tenant in this building.

I agree with all the criticism people have leveled (heaped) onto this building, but really I think it's overall a nice building. My main gripe, like others have said, is the monotony of the facade. Really all it needs is something to give some contour to the setbacks and it would be a great tower imo. Thankfully, on clear days the angle of the sun at various times does the work of bringing the shape of the building into sharper focus. Plus, I'm optimistic the flatness of the facade will be mitigated as tenants fill in and desks, blinds, and general office clutter adds texture to the windows.

The south facade needs more texture and is super flat when viewed dead on. The indirectly lit north facade is rarely viewed dead on so it actually has texture. Looks much better. Major whiff on that south facade, it’s so flat.

This city really doesn't do well with prime sites development looking to knock it out of the park...Block 37 welcomes another to the group of missed opportunities...

St. Regis and One Chicago say hello. BMO Tower, too, for that matter.

Plenty of good towers in prime sites recently.

^ I would say Trump tower is the only one of that bunch that really overachieved .... The salesforce location deserved something on that standard... even Vista which really isn't in a prime spot but the design and height are above average... the rest of towers are great but i wouldn't say there expected spots for something grand in design and height like wolf point.

"Salesforce Tower Chicago -> Looking good and nearing completion"

Arguably looks good, not great. Could've used another 100 ft or more and distinctive fins on the sides to break up the monolithic glass. But good video.

A few shots from yesterday (4/14) - I did sky replacements to break up the monotony of the plain blue sky.

For fun here's a before and after of the last photo. I used my tilt-shift for all these shots, but for this final one, I decided to use two horizontal frames stacked atop one another to create a wider image. Plus...the entirety of Salesforce barely fits in a single frame.

definitely this tower's (/development's) best angle, unfortunately couldn't be more of a statement to rival Sears
