Yes, that old hybrid train idea that they were talking about a decade ago. I hope that comes to pass, because I'm sure it would be far less financially burdensome than other ideas.

Ones on track 5 leading down to the McDonald near the light rail entrance tend to be vulnerable. They fix them quick though, but there where periods when I use to take the train (2009-2014), where they where out. But definitely not for weeks like some NYC stations. Still, a couple of hours is enough to irk fellow Westfield riders.

Still, Penn Newark is a crap hole, and needs to be renovated. Only thing it has going for it is that beautiful lobby, but its overrun with vagrants. They all migrated to the amtrak side too, and so, the refuge from the smell is unavoidable.

Station entries, designed by Dattner Architects in partnership with WSP I Parsons Brinckerhoff, are located within the newly opened Hudson Park and Boulevard from landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh. The metal and glass forms complement the organic shapes of the landscape elements that define the park. Underground, the organic theme continues, with an elliptical mural, curving boundaries, and curved archways that reference the beloved TWA Flight Center by Eero Saarinen at the JFK airport. The station provides travelers with many modern conveniences, including air conditioned platforms for year round comfort and inclined elevators.

Well, It was poor planning. They went for a two seat ride solution which everyone knew was a second rate plan.

My proposal is similar to the old proposal in the 70's for a train to JFK that never made it: A) restore service on the old rockaway and replace the A train to the Rock'way with commuter rail , B) build a spur off that line into JFK somehow down near Howard Beach (perhaps replacing the AirTrain at Howard Beach or using a new ROW) , C) run a dedicated non stop airport express to JFK from Manhattan through that line. D) Have LIRR service to Southern Queens/Rockaways. Once in the airport, the train will stop at a few new stations, possibly underground. High Speed Moving walkways would ferry passengers to all terminals, negating the need for the train to service every individual terminal. Like in Paris CDG Terminal 2, where the RER stops at a central train station and most passengers then take moving walkways to the rest of the terminal buildings in the complex.

The AiTrain wold remain for intraterminal connections and for the current connection to subways/trains at Jamaica.

I also think that JFK should be expanded in capacity and not LGA. The RPA recommended it and I agree with their report.

It would only be a handful of the busiest stations, but that would make a huge difference in the travel experience of many people and a better image for the NY subway. I'm sure it would be difficult and cost a fortune but worth it. Even just one or two would help. Times Square is the one I'd target.

It'll probably happen overtime. But yes, that would be pretty cool. Still waiting on the NY Penn upgrade. One station that needs a massive, and most likely time consuming expansion is Penn Station. Really just to fix the overcrowded nature of it. Its only going to get busier, and the clock is ticking.

Grand Central is fine though and a national treasure, but the Times Square stop could use an overhaul as its the subways busiest stop in terms of passenger traffic.

Yeah, I'll believe the opening date and budget when I see it. And I'll put $1000 on it ending up over budget and behind schedule to any takers at 10:1 odds against.

A new coat of paint here plus a few tiles there....A simple job that was insanely over budget and the opening was delayed numerous times, this a pity really. At this rate every subway station will get renovated by 2578. NOT GOOD.
