Its going to be quite imposing, considering that this will be bigger than 1 Vandy. Not just in height, I hope, but big in the sense of bulk. And based on what we've seen with 1 Vandy, and its impact on the skyline, this will be extremely profound.

I think when that is official they will probably want to release a render of what is replacing it. It will probably continue being refined, but we at east should have a look at what to expect. I don't think that's asking for too much. Meanwhile, we could be looking at 3 massive towers in the area overlapping in construction - 270, Tower Fifth, and the Grand Hyatt tower are all within arms length. Of course, Vanderbilt will be right there. Good one. Gold Star for the day. |
It's going to be a fascinating process to watch them bring this down.
|
I wonder what are they going to do with some elements of the building.
For example, the amount of glass which they are going to remove could easily cover a football field. Can they just waste it or is there some sort of recycling, reusing policy concerning demolitions? |
I've never been as interested in watching a building come down as I am now. I want to watch every piece come off. I'll probably be even more excited once we can visualize what will replace it. Some of those materials probably will be recycled. There's probably a lot of asbestos there also.
Here's wednesday's vote by the commission... |
I'd like a small piece of the steel, as a talisman. I've got rivets and a piece of suspender rope from the Golden Gate Bridge too.
|
I want know the final height of the building if its possible

Based on Nyguy's pictures they move up about 4 floors per week with the scaffolding on one side.
Probably waiting for something, this can't be the pace, can it? I hope there will be a demo cam timelapse as it was for One Vandy, those are so satisfying to watch. |
