I assumed. And a smaller floor would take less time to pour and thus set, correct?

by hours - not significant relative to the time to cure which is in days.

More tower crane sections were being delivered this morning. Perhaps another jump or maybe the new crane.

From the top to bottom this thing is all Chicago. Big brawny square box with a squared geometrical spiral at the top.

Even at barely 1/5th its full height, it can command one hell of a presence!

I still think the set backs are facing the wrong way on this building. Why would anyone want a patio view facing South rather than North toward downtown, the park and the lake? It would also be a more pleasing view of the building, breaking up the flat face from the sidewalk to the crown.

This building is massive. I bet this sucks up all demand in the south loop for years to come.

Assuming that park/lake/skyline views increase the value of a given square foot of housing, you would want to maximize the amount of space that has such views. Setbacks on those sides would reduce the amount of square footage that enjoys those views.

My guess is that people are not willing to pay enough for balconies + plus views to justify the loss of such square footage on that side. This way, people who want really want views get them, as do people who want balconies, and those who want both can really shell out near the pinnacle.

I also imagine the backside is where the pool and amenity deck are located. We all know Chicago's best sunspots are usually on the south side of buildings.

Central Park is no worse off for having canyons of skyscrapers enclose it on all sides. I think it actually adds to its allure.
