Do you think they will tear up the remainder of the parking lot, east and south, or will they leave the south for a later time. I only ask because isn't the south section going to be completly blocked off by east, west, parking garage, and the river. So that empty lot would be useless except for staging and material storage.
Also, how difficult is that south project going to be to get materials and machinery to that site. If they use barges in the river, isnt that very shallow to dock next to? |
I might be looking forward to the East tower more than anything, just because Wolf Point looks so barren right now compared to everything going on around it.

^ The universal sign for imminent construction. |
Lol, we haven't seen that many nanners lately because this boom has been one of many smaller projects. We typically only roll them out for the groundbreaking of particularly large or impressive projects.
Never thought about how infuriating or bizarre all the banana references must be to someone who doesn't remember the two or three pages of bananas that would follow something like the arrival of cassion rigs for the Spire. |
:awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome:
|
^^^ Hey now, no premature nannering, you'll jinx it.

this is not 'nam. this is skyscraper construction internet nerdery. there are rules. there shall be absolutely no posting of bananas of any kind until a caisson rig tastes its first earth. |
sorry. we shouldn't underestimate their power

A thousand apologies to the yellow-peeled nanner gods

Case just posted this to their Facebook page. The article is from 4/20, but seems like their status update is new news >
"Project news - Wolf Point East Tower will be joining the skyline this summer. Case will be installing 49 belled caissons and 14 rock caissons in this second phase of the Wolf Point development. The Wolf Point West tower was completed by Case crews back in April of 2014." https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...44415949212660 |
Geezus these nanners about to swing from trapezes

Would it make sense to create a thread solely for the East Tower now that it appears they will start construction soon?
The first page of this thread is a bit confusing since it has mostly East Tower information but some South Tower information as well. |

Not sure if it means anything but my friend said he saw some guys in neon vests walking around the site scoping things out a few days ago. Sorry, no pictures, but he said it was not soil testers.
|
I think we'll see site prep in 1-2 weeks, construction 3-4

YUS i've been anticipating this one like a six-year-old ✨✨✨

There were a number of tractor-trailers and a few short-ish U-Haul vans on the Wolf Point East and South lots this morning. It seems like they moved in over the weekend, perhaps for a trade show at the Merchandise Mart. Maybe Case Foundation is waiting to wrap up at One South Halsted before moving over to Wolf Point...
EDIT: Update, they're all gone. Must have been there for the Antique Show or something. |
Still crickets here? I feel like almost any hour now we should expect excavation equipment to show up on site and site prep to begin. Assuming still waiting on construction loan to close, as it will be a very large one for a Chicago residential tower - likely on par with Crescent Heights' big South Loop tower and Related's Streeterville Sternstackofshit.......

^ NeoCon is actually happening right now....perhaps after everything from it clears out by the weekend, we can get some permits issued and work underway......? No doubt it's a challenge putting this construction loan together (although nowhere near the herculean challenge Magellan and Dalian Wanda are facing at the moment, as an aside), but I have no concern that Hines and partners will not be able to pull it off/(have pulled it off already, perhaps?).....
|
Soil testing truck was on site yesterday and still there today... hoping this means construction will start sooner than later! Thought it was supposed to break ground in early May and June is nearly over...

This is wonderful!
|
Fuck. Yeah.
Quite excited about this one. Chicago's getting another Pelli tower.....his better contemporary work can be truly sublime.....I have lofty expectations here..... |
6 stories of basement parking means that this building is going to take a while before it reaches above the 1st floor
|
Quote:
Edit: I now remember reading something about how for this tower, Pelli would actually design, and bKL would act as AOR...does this ring a bell for anyone or am I making this up? |

Awesome! The Chicago river just keeps getting better. Let's hope the Reid Murdock hotel proposal, GEMS II, and 110 Wacker get started soon as well.
|
Quote:
bKL was also of course the design architect for the west tower, not just the AOR (if they were that as well)..... AOR is good work for P/H......they should focus more there..... |
