The scaffold is completely out of the large winter garden space. It looks massive! Also some of the metal panels have been stripped of the protective cover. The color is silver and looks good with the green glass. You can see it better on the back side of the building right now. This thing is going to be a stunner!

Awesome pics, BVic! Thanks for braving the craptastic weather to get them!

Damn, Essex and 1000M really add some bulk to the skyline. There is a noticeable height gap between Roosevelt and Congress when viewing from the east. These two definitely help to address that.

Somi is going to fill that space to the south nicely as well. I hope that turns the south loop highrise into a trend.

When it's completed, this is likely to be the most dramatic indoor amenity space in a residential building in Chicago.

The eastern part of the space will have an indoor pool and panoramic views over Grant Park. Nano walls will seasonally open the north and side ends of the space to the outdoors

That view blows my mind why more peolpe aren't trying to redevelop those mich ave buildings into luxury highrises like legacy. Oh, except for alderman, nimbys, costs, tax and....ect. C'mon 1000m, i hope you pull through.

What actually blows my mind is how underdeveloped Wabash is particularly Jewelers Row which is one block off Michigan and Millennium Park. There's a ton of vacancy along there right now. Brand new L station too. Meanwhile the Michigan side if the block is hopping with some seriously cool stuff like the Athletic Association popping off.

Some of the cutouts overlooking this space were not part of the original plans.

Wabash just won’t develop into more than a service retail district because of the L.

But I like it the way it is. Lots of historic buildings, very Chicago. Gritty and urban. You can’t replicate that in Dallas or Atlanta

No probably about it - Matrix was mostly filmed in Sydney. The Wachowski siblings do have studios/offices here in Ravenswood now, but there were Chicago names in The Matrix because they grew up in Chicagoland.

And the name Neo was most likely named after the nightclub Neo in Lincoln Park that unfortunately closed a few years ago.
