MINNEAPOLIS | 710 South 4th Street | 297 FT | 26 FLOORS

This is one of two propsals for the air rights above a parking ramp adjacent to the new MN Vikings stadium. It looks pretty likely that this is the development that will be moving forward, just received it's first staff reccomendation, final decision is March 28th

The proposal includes a 27 story tower with 200 apartments above a 150 room Radisson Red Hotel. This is a new concept from locally based Radisson recently announced, it is sort of their answer to an Aloft hotel by starwood. Construction would begin in about a year, after the parking ramp portion is complete.

Seen here with the two new Wells Fargo towers and apartment buildings set to start construction next month, and the new stadium that is under construction:

This part of downtown Minneapolis will be one huge construction site for a couple years starting this spring. We should see at least a dozen cranes in this area before summer is over.

Mike.... I was trolling over on SSC and a couple of the forumers were saying this could be around 38-40 floors and a little over 400' by the time this is ready to go!

MNMike Mar 15, 2014 1:44 PM

I doubt it, we will see. With all due respect to that poster over at SSC... He has been making claims like that for almost 10 years...I don't think one has ever been correct. Oh, and he will get furious and tell you you're being negative if you say that to him. Lol

This has replaced it. Bit of old new though since this was from last year but no one updated the forum thread yet. Will be a 290 FT office building. There hasn't been any news out of this since.

^^ With any luck....It won't get built!! Just another short, stubby mid-rise!

We are lucky to get anything more than a few stories in this city...

Didn't realize there was a thread for this.

This project was approved earlier this year. Plans: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/gro...msp-217523.pdf

Final version is 26 floors, 297'. Apartments & retail.

Not a lot to love.

New survey markings on site.

Nice!

That's a great looking tower for that spot. That rooftop amenity floor is going to have great views.

Drcastro Dec 14, 2020 2:29 AM

Any action in the last ten months?

TallBob Dec 14, 2020 6:59 AM

A 500 footer should go in that spot....If nothing else but to hide the Wells Fargo monstrosity!

MN/WI Dec 16, 2020 1:57 AM

Trying to wrap my head around your comment Bob. How would it hide it?

Drcastro Dec 16, 2020 2:11 AM

I drove by the site today since I was in the neighborhood. No sign of any activity :-(

TallBob Dec 16, 2020 8:07 AM

MN/WI: How about it'll divert focus IMO from Wells to this project!

MN/WI Dec 17, 2020 3:09 AM

Much better. Keep up the good work. Love all the pictures and projects you bring to the table.

Kirkland, Washington-based Weidner Homes plans to build a multifamily apartment building with 342 units on the downtown Minneapolis site across the street from U.S. Bank Stadium, according to a recent filing with the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Minneapolis-based Ryan Cos. confirmed it's partnering with Weidner on the project, which is moving forward five years after completion of the initial phase of the development project, Tony Barranco, Ryan's North Region president, said in a statement.

The partnership plans to break ground on the long-planned project early next year, Barranco added in the statement.

Great news! I wonder if it will look anything like that 2018 rendering. It would be nice to have something a little more interesting than that basic rectangular box.

TallBob Dec 19, 2021 9:45 AM

^^ Probably not. I'll say one thing....They sure know how to continuosly reinvent 250 foot rectangle boxes!
