Really great work with the overlays. Looks as if the church has been a part of the landscape all along. Well, I thought that until the pole with multiple cross arms caught my eye. A left over from the early 20th century before telephone cables came to be. But hey who am I to criticize when I couldn't even get close to doing what you did.

Inside Charlie Chaplin's house
 

I've always heard about Charlie Chaplin’s house at 1085 Summit Dr. in Beverly Hills. Built primarily in 1922 by studio carpenters, the house became known as the “Breakaway House” because of how quickly it started to fall apart. The carpenters who built it were used to constructing things designed only to last as long as the movie’s shooting schedule. Oopsies! I've seen old photos of the outside, but not of the interior until I came across this atmospheric shot. Oh, if these walls could talk!

PS - ImageShack have just done a makeover and the "forum" link it provides only results in a thumbnail version of the photo. The actual photo is 830KB. Can anyone tell me why it's coming up so small here? If you click on it, you can see a larger version.

Chop Suey was developed by Chinese living in America, and is therefore still Chinese food. Same with fortune cookies - developed in San Francisco's China Town.
And I've had authentic Chinese food in China. Monterey Park has nothing to worry about. ;)

Academy Museum/ May Company Building
 

You may or may not know that AMPAS (Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences) is in the process of turning the May Company building on Fairfax and Wilshire into their new motion picture museum. It's about two years away from opening.

Among other things, on their site they have a link to the museum with drawings and renderings and a section devoted to the May Company building with a lot of photographs and a magazine article from the May 1940 edition of The Architectural Forum, detailing the building and it's floors. Most of the photos are from the 1940's.

It's an aerial of the May Company from 1940. You can see Simon's on the corner of Fairfax and Wilshire, too.

The ranch is on Stunt Road, about halfway between Calabasas and the ocean.
