^Ha, that has me scratching my head as well. BVic please clarify! You likely meant shorter twin to Sears, but the greedy kid in me is imagining a 1,300' "twin" to this one, with identical proportions, anchoring the other half of this Michigan/Roosevelt corner.

EDIT: SWEET FANCY MOSES

Well that was pretty unexpected (but in a good way). Hopefully the other tower breaks 1000'?

So if East is 829', West is about 950'?

Steely Dan Sep 23, 2015 1:15 AM

HOLY SWEET FLYING FUCK!

829' and 950' looks about right.

Righteous!

Damn I rarely comment as well but just had to say wow classic Chicago right there bravo!

KevinFromTexas Sep 23, 2015 1:23 AM

Very nice. I'm not really sure it needs a spire actually. I was going to say it would be nice if it were more like 950 to 1,000 feet, but then I when I learned where it would be on the skyline, I realized it would be a spire. This should be a neat one to watch.

You know, the design actually reminds me of the old residential midrises along Central Park and in Midtown with all the setbacks.

EDIT: Well, now it REALLY looks like some of the old buildings along Central Park. haha Man, this is great. What a sweet development.

So are those sky lobies, up at the level of OMPW's roof? Amenity floors? Sweet party lounges?

And finally, buildings that will really dominate as seen from Soldier Field during bears games.

WHAAAATTTTT :dancinghotdog:

This is so Chicago. If this and Wanda Vista go up at the same time, or even close to it, I'll just be done.

LouisVanDerWright Sep 23, 2015 1:34 AM

I know I just posted, but this is the best thing since the Chicago Spire was announced. I give it four out of four six pointed stars on a Chicago flag.

go go white sox Sep 23, 2015 1:36 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this design pay homage to Burnham's vision of Chicago with designs that consisted of identical towers? At least I thought I heard this somewhere.

Domer2019 Sep 23, 2015 1:36 AM

Sooo... we're calling this one building, right?

A two-tower Wanda Vista?

I rarely feel the need to comment, but wow. Instantly love it! This really belongs here.

Kngkyle Sep 23, 2015 1:52 AM

It would be awesome if they built both simultaneously, although I doubt that will happen, but just imagine that.

I. I. I. Am. Um. Speechless.

Every other firm currently designing towers in Chicago just took a look at this, scrapped their plans, and said... Back to the drawing boards boys, we just got schooled.

nergie Sep 23, 2015 2:02 AM

:worship::slob::worship: OMFG!!! yes please yes please

LouisVanDerWright Sep 23, 2015 2:07 AM

Best way to describe this:

The love child of a threesome between Sears Tower, World Trade Center, and the Future.

PS: It's hilarious how everyone is ignoring the sick ass SCB design for a 48 STORY TOWER AT 1300 S MICHIGAN that was also released during this meeting over in the Boom Rundown (yes we can call it that now). Feels like 2006 bros.

Phase 1 is the building at Indiana and Roosevelt. Phase 2 is the building at Michigan and Roosevelt. Phase 3 is to build up to 100 townhouses surrounding a new public park at 13th and Indiana.

They said that this is all covered under the existing PD, however they need design approval because they are moving units around between the 3 building sites. I am pretty sure that they said that Phase 1 has received the design approval.

~690 parking spaces, BTW - and nobody was happy with that amount.
