175' taller than WPE.

Thank you Martin H Unzon, wherever you are, for finally updating the Salesforce tower diagram on Skyscraperpage.com. Great job.

Glass install has started on the 2nd? floor. I'm by no means a glass expert but it looked very "clear" without much color/tint to it, if that makes any sense. Also saw glass ready for install on the 3rd? floor.

It looks like the lower levels have no tint on the Hines site so that matches up.

Sorry, couldn't grab a photo.

Sorry, couldn't grab a photo.

Grabbed one today.

A few bits of glass on the east side now.

Steel is flying up and seems like it will catch the core shortly.

Anyone know when the core is supposed to narrow? They are almost on floor 30 and I thought it would have by now.

What's going on with the third level from the lobby? Looks like there is supposed to be some sort of "mezzanine" level. There are two levels of openings into the elevator core, and it looks like there are steel mounting brackets there, but it hasn't been fireproofed yet. Can't tell from any of the renderings what this is supposed to be.

Via https://www.chicagoarchitecture.org/...ed-back-again/ that area is labeled 'MECHANICAL LOUVER CURTAIN-WALL" on one of the drawings showing the east side, so maybe that explains it.

Ha! I don’t know what I was expecting for the Holiday Inn behind Salesforce, but I guess upscaling to appeal to business travelers was always an option with Wolf’s Point being developed.

Quote:

Murphy is leading a venture to acquire the leasehold interest in the 522-room Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza atop the office building at 350 N. Orleans St., according to sources familiar with the property. The venture is finalizing a deal to pay close to $23 million, or around $43,000 per room, for the property, with an ambitious plan to renovate and reposition it with a more upscale brand, sources said.

Murphy is expected to execute a new 99-year ground lease with New York-based private-equity giant Blackstone Group—which owns the former Apparel Center building on which the hotel sits—and redevelop the property with a different brand within the IHG Hotels & Resorts family.

^ Yeah, that makes sense.

Hopefully that means some sprucing up will be done to the exterior as well (in addition to the obvious interior work that will be done). Not sure exactly how much exactly can be addressed to un-ugly-fy the building but hey, anything would help at this point lol

Core coming up on the halfway point now.

The usual caveats about color judgments with just a few panels, but the spandrel glass looks like it skews a bit more WPW green than WPE

^ Nice shots. Re glass - (because they're in view) getting a 321 N Clark vibe....perhaps it will end up being something between 321 and 300 LaSalle?

Regardless, Happy to have some more Hines green (this is the way my eyes are reading it, anyway) to mix it up with the steady stream of Riverside blue we've been getting.

^Nice shots! I thought I had a good angle today, but you really one upped me. I'll still add a few to the pile.
