the mandragore eco-tower

fun stuff!

the french architecture team rescubika imagine a 2400' tall tree lined eco tower for roosevelt island:

Now this is a climatic scene.

A behemoth air-scrubbing high-rise that looks straight out of a sci-fi flick has been designed for the middle of Roosevelt Island.

The tree-studded, 2,400-foot-tall, futuristic proposal is planned to loosely resemble a mandrake plant — with a base like a cruise ship morphing into a gleaming twisty tower a la surrealist Salvador Dali — and take over much of the East River isle off Manhattan.

very impressive, but it would look awkward without a few other megatalls on manhattan as well... i think its about 60 years ahead of its time.. these guys are real visionaries

This is awesome. What are the chances this gets built?

zero. i think it was just an architectural firm’s visionary exercise. it sure would be cool to see happen though, right?

and yeah i think practically its just a bit too ahead of its time. still, you gotta love the creative thinking here, its inspiring.
