Why? What is ensuring people stay in their homes during the already least-busy time of day actually meant to achieve?

Some of the reasoning is explained in this article:

Columbia imposes citywide coronavirus curfew starting at 11 p.m. Wednesday

Let's hope some of these efforts "flatten the curve" but unfortunately it's probably too late

Really empty streets are a great place for opportunistic prowling criminals, especially criminals armed and driving around looking for a victim. It is a good idea to have an overnight curfew to give police an enforcement tool that ensures only people who need to be out at that hour are allowed to be out.

Italy has also been much better about testing than the US, and has about 1/5 the population.

This piecemeal approach will not only prolong this pandemic until the summer (at the earliest) but also cost thousands of American lives. If you think things are crazy now just wait a couple weeks when the hospitals are overrun and people’s family members are dying, then the real panic will happen and things will get really scary fast.

Yeah I think it is an overreaction still. Not to mention that wasn't the point of my statesment.

I was saying that the US does not have the legal right nor the logistical power to actually force a nationwide lockdown and simply requesting the voluntary lockdowns are more effective and more legal.

If you have a lead foot (like me), this is probably your moment to go for it. Some departments are pulling back on writing tickets for minor traffic infractions.

amidst all this coronavirus craziness, let's please not forget the real victims: america's mass shooters.

how are they supposed to indiscriminately gun us down if we're all holed up inside our own homes all day long?

I parked in a metered spot downtown, didn't pay and drove 20 miles over the speed limit back home last night. Damn the apocalypse has its perks.

Yeah some police departments publicly saying they arent going to bother with petty crimes for now is pretty disturbing

I mean hell, if thats the policy for now fine but dont broadcast it.

Just for those that work from home and have kids, you'll appreciate this.

:haha:

Do any of you wear a suit when you work from home, just curious? I'm managing my NJ/NYC territory wearing a bathrobe at the moment. :haha:

Fortunatly in my case, Microsoft Teams, T-mobile App, and cell phone are all I need. No video conferences thankfully!

I suppose they could wait until the toilet paper runs out, and people have to go outside to pick leaves off the ground to wipe? I live in the suburbs, with a big yard, so I could pee outside (save on the water bill) or just go take a dump in my neighbors yard right by the bamboo plants. They grow fast, bamboo, so he'll never see me. Like 1969 all over again!!!

Your going to be doing a lot of thinking, WHEN YOUR LIVING IN A TENT DOWN BY THE RIVER (Thames or East/Hudson depending on where your at).
