No issues with this building, seems like we re good to go. It will be awesome seeing this rise in the south and the new Mormon building rise in the North.

A bill that would allow developer Carl Dranoff’s SLS International Hotel on South Broad St. to be built without any additional zoning approvals was approved Wednesday by City Council’s Committee on Rules.

The proposal calls for a 47-story, 567-foot tower with 149 luxury hotel rooms and 123 residential condominiums. It would also include a bar and restaurant at the corner of Broad and Spruce streets, with retail space along Broad Street.

if the bill is approved, construction will begin in the fall of 2014 and be completed two years later.

I saw the aerial rendering, however, I did not see the below skyline rendering posted previously.

^^This rendering shows the tower in front of the Drake when it should actually be BEHIND it.

I'm liking this building and looking forward to watching it rise.

Would also like to see a 700 footer and perhaps something in the 900-1000 foot range in that vicinity as it would expand the skyline as viewed from the east and west.

Just mentally visualizing based on the photo above.

"I will tell you that, um, the start for demolition is approximately the fall of 2014, assuming approval, and construction approximately two years thereafter. "

The above quote makes it sound like it would not start construction until 2016 or so. I'm sure they just left out the word "completed."
Would there be any reason that demo would start in 2014... and they would not start construction until 2016?

Even the below quote is not 100% concrete in regards to the completion ET.

@05:29
"So, by 2017, we are very hopefully that, um, that this project, SLS International will be constructed and take its place on the skyline."

I think it's pretty clear that they mean that construction will be ongoing for about two years after demoliton, with completion by 2017. Otherwise, none of this really makes much sense.

Beautiful building. What a fantastic addition to Philadelphia.

If you are going to make it 590 feet, might as well make it 601. ;)

Philly-Drew Apr 25, 2014 10:29 PM

So this building was originally 47 stories and 567 feet. But now it's 46 stories but 590 feet? Hmmm. I wonder what design changes made the building 23' taller, but dropped one floor.

So they are kicking out Philadelphia International Records.

The building has been abandoned since it caught fire in 2010

Looked like some equipment there yesterday cleaning up the lot, assuming this wont be another beer garden this year it appeared to be removing everything back to dirt on the empty lot part.
