Although no address is specified for the University City tower, renderings appear to place it somewhere near at the intersection of Civic Center Boulevard and Osler Circle, apparently at the site of the Wood Pediatric Center at 3401 Civic Center Boulevard, a six-story, Postmodern structure. Since it's bumped, I'll just say there's a ton of prep work still being done in advance. They've been working on the underground garage and there's some scaffolding up at one of the skybridges at the Wood center. Demolition is still a ways off but there's still technically a lot of related work going on.

There's not much to look at, really. The building that is being replaced is still in use. There are just a lot of construction people around working on utilities and the underground existing parking garage. This tower likely won't start until their office tower is completed because they have to clear out the Wood building by making space to move those offices.

CHOP plans nearly $3.5B in capital projects by 2028

We're building a services and logistics center right outside of West Philadelphia. We're also building two inpatient behavioral health units and a new behavioral health outpatient center. We have a just under $3.5 billion building projects budget that will create lots of stimulation for the economy between now and 2028.

It's 475 feet above sea level. The first floor is 41 feet above sea level, so the structure is 434 feet tall.

Either way, still a substantial height for the medical center and very happy to have another building in UCity breaching the 400 foot mark.

Love this project. The design isn't incredible, but it's nice enough, has a lighting scheme, and FINALLY we have a building that will eclipse 400 feet tall in the UCity Medical Center area. :cheers:

Interesting that they're intentionally reducing parking footprint. I generally support that, not sure if it's a great idea for a major hospital though (thinking about families here, not so much employees). Also, the new bridge connecting the current main tower and Buerger to facilitate the demolition of Wood is under construction.

It's fully moving but there's a lot of foundation and other prep work left like a new skybridge. Demolition of the old building isn't scheduled until Q1 2023 so this tower won't be above ground til next year sometime

I... actually think this is beginning prep work. Drove by today and there was a big sign up saying "DUE 2028", and Osler was closed to all traffic.

Yes, Osler Cr has been closed since April for full time prep work. Theyve been working on the garage underground for the future foundation. Wood is still being used actively and needs to be demoed (planned Q1 '23) first so it'll still be a long time before this is actually off the ground.
