^^No doubt Art Agnos will file an appeal. SOMEBODY will.

^It appears you didn't read the article.

Quote:

“This is the new gold standard for San Francisco development,” said former San Francisco Mayor Art Agnos, who is often critical of development. “And if (other developers) say they can’t match this, tell them to wait until they can.”

I know these are massing and placeholder designs, but Mission Rock looks good from AT&T:

Big news for Mission Bay and SF in general:

Dropbox taking entire building in Mission Bay — biggest lease in city history

Quote:

File-sharing giant Dropbox has signed the biggest lease in San Francisco history, an agreement for 736,000 square feet, the entirety of a new office complex under construction in the southwest corner of Mission Bay.

Quite the bombshell.

Still really wish they'd been able to figure out a way to keep Mission Bay more restricted to biotech that would have better synergies with UCSF, but fascinating to see some of these tech companies gobbling up space in Mission Bay as even the SOMA building boom in their traditional domain hasn't been able to keep up.

Pedestrian Oct 12, 2017 2:06 AM

^^The building:

https://sf.curbed.com/2017/10/11/164...se-mission-bay

But I must say I find Mission Bay a confusing warren of development and have no idea where this building actually is. Perhaps if somebody has a postable map handy and a way to point it out?

Pedestrian, it's just east of 280 at 16th street

You can see it on the webcam or here on Google Maps - the dirt lot that's no longer a dirt lot.

Long-stalled Mission Bay Marriott hotel kicked back into gear

By Katie Burke – Food/Hospitality/Retail Reporter, San Francisco Business Times
Oct 23, 2017, 1:25pm PDT Updated 3 hours ago
The 250-room Mission Bay hotel was originally scheduled to be open by now, but after hitting the pause button, developers are finally moving ahead.

San Francisco-based Stanford Hotel's Marriott (NASDAQ: MAR) San Francisco SoMA Hotel is now working to get additional building permits . . . . The project was initially slated to be delivered in 2016, but an associate with the developer said the Marriott is now expected to be completed in 2019.

City permits filed a couple of years ago show the project is estimated to cost nearly $64 million, although that figure could have risen since then.

The team for the 16-story project includes local architecture firm Hornberger + Worstell as well as McCarthy Building Co. as the general contractor. It will be the first hotel in the southern side of Mission Bay. Hotel Via, in the northern portion of Mission Bay, was completed this past summer . . . .

Mark Hornberger of Hornberger + Worstell previously told the San Francisco Business Times that the future Marriott will include a "community living room" on the ground floor — a 700-square-foot public space where people can "come in and have coffee and enjoy artwork." There will be also be another public space at the rooftop of the hotel, which will include a glass-enclosed rooftop bar and cafe area, as well as a paved, uncovered space . . . .

^^Previously I recall some discussion about a park on the south side of the channel to match the one on the north side and what's already been done to the west, but if my geography is right--judging by the published photo with equipment present--this means the hotel is going right next to the water at the corner of Third. No?

No, that photo is a couple years old, at least.

The hotel is going in on 3rd and Channel. The corner next to the water is no longer empty, and is now occupied by a 15 story building...construction was completed around a year ago.

I've been wondering about our MVP (most valuable poster) myself. He's still lurking, I think. I hope all is well with him and he starts posting again soon.
