The plans also call for a stop near the interchange of I-5 and Rte 536, which may or may not end up on Disney-owned property but is firmly in the Disney sphere of influence.

Right! They won’t go in the Disney property. They will be on I-4 instead and continue to Tampa.

Ah I guess they are landlocked at the original site but didn't know they were expanding. Still, the new park will be over 1 mile from the rail station and SeaWorld is 1.25 miles. Both will need shuttles.

The only thing directly walkable from the station will be the the convention center, and even that will be a 1/2 mile (indoor) walk thru the Hilton.

A station at Disney Springs would actually be quite nice with lots of attractions walkable from the station, and tie into Disney's existing bus system for connections to the various hotels and resorts. Hopefully they can get a station right by Disney Springs (even if in the I-4 median) instead of some remote location by Osceola Pkwy.

Yes, they do! They need a shuttle bus. That won’t be affected. Or if they want orders Lyft or Uber. They will take you there. Depends how much costs. It is not too expensive. Or you can hop on the shuttle bus to Disney hotel or else. It’s not too far from there. Easy on and easy off.

Are those numbers accurate? If so why is it so slow? I can understand once it starts getting to California and the mountains but the way to Vegas is a big desert. It should be easily cruising at 220 mph. Or am I missing something here? Big curves? Anything to stop it?

Okay that's more like it.
Though with the speeds they're promising, like someone else I saw said, it's likely they're planning a much more expensive option with the higher speeds and capacity but still marketing the cost of the slower system.

Logging in for the first time in a while to say that I think that a brightline-style train between Seattle and Vancouver would be a good idea.

In fact, in general, I think that the idea of privately funded higher-speed rail between easy city pairs could be a good model in many places.

Tampa-Orlando, Seattle-Vancouver etc.

the border is a huge issue for Vancouver - Seattle. Not only in terms of wrecking travel times, but in terms of limiting trips between the cities considering their sizes and relative proximity.

It's also likely hampered the development of all communities between them. I always like to imagine a large city on the flat plain around Mt. Vernon, or at Sequim or Port Townsend, at the entrance to puget sound. With more travel and shipping between puget sound and victoria and vancouver, I could picture a Tacoma-sized city forming in those locations

There are also no good routings north of Seattle. Has to hug the shoreline. Need to rip up a lane or two of the soul sucking parking lot that is I-5 and swap with HSR (ducks out of here)
