damn this thing was worth the wait

^You can say that again.

What material are the panels on the side of this thing made of? I like the color.

Kippis Dec 12, 2017 1:09 PM

Wow. Nick has the uber sexy filter on his camera.

LVDW: I believe the side cladding is a type of coated concrete panel. At least, that's what was in the PD IIRC.

I initially wasn't the biggest fan of the design change, but I have to say: this is one good-looking tower if I've ever seen one. So minimalist, so Chicago. Hyde Park should be proud to have this. And Jeanne Gang: I'd kiss you if I weren't married.

It's amazing the difference in preference. I think this thing looks atrocious... :yuck:

Still a gorgeous photo by Ulivieri as usual though.

Lol, Ok. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder, but the execution of this project is killer and you have to admit it's a pretty sharp, unique, design. Maybe it's not your cup of tea, but it's clearly done well.

Does anyone have an opportunity of going into a solstice space and take interior shots of the tilted glass? I really want to see how it looks from the inside.

Hot damn Solstice. No doubt to those who said this was worth the wait and it looks better than in the renders. Worth the wait indeed.

I would love to see more of this quality mid-rise design downtown and in River North specifically.

Vlajos Jan 7, 2018 4:38 AM

Even my kids were amazed by this building today. It's gorgeous.

Aqua

But the point is that Jeanne Gang will be long remembered.

I think this one wipes its ass with Aqua

Absolutely. I will concede that it looks like they executed very well on their intended design.

I’ll take City Hyde Park over either of those two. Solstice turned out nicely but the side elevations are kinda awful.
