GW, excellent post on the " many noirish Olive Days". Here is William Jobelmann (PIMP) and Miss Olive Day, former actress, who is said to confessed to operating the "love market" supplying young girls to wealthy men for week-end trip and parties. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/BQg91T.jpg LAPL...Herald Examiner, 1931 William Jobelmann. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/EnYFF6.jpg Herald Examiner Damn, girl, what were you thinking? He's right out of central casting. . |

Here is one of Jobelmann's "Party" Girl. Freckle faced Clarice Tauber in 1934. Three years after the 'incident'. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/agaUAv.jpg ucla archive Clarice Tauber told the county grand jury the inside story of statutory charges …" The girl, who was 16 years of age in October, 1931, when the Mills case took place, assertedly told the jurors how she was taken to the wealthy broker’s downtown hotel room where the allege offense was committed. The wealthy broker was John P. Mills. ...(the charges were eventually dropped) Here's Ms. Tauber three years earlier on March 6, 1931. (age 16) https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/a21yaT.jpg LAPL The Herald Examiner photo editor was obviously having a difficult time cropping the photograph. . |

As the case was going forward, young Miss Tauber abruptly married sailor Thomas Fladebo: https://i.postimg.cc/BnXgQC6d/Claric...-1931-8-13.jpg LA Times, 8/13/1931 By December 8, 1931, "Fladebo testified he last saw his wife in Mexico and that he does not know her whereabouts" (LA Times, 12/9/1931). |

In the 70's, and maybe they still do, Universal Studios had an area of oversized props at one of the tram rest stops. I think it was called Prop Plaza.
