This thing is starting to fly. Estimated top-off? Very late 2018?

Essex on the Park, 800 S Michigan
by YoChicago, on Flickr. Shot from a penthouse terrace at 777 South State.

The glass is a bit greener than I thought it would be—it looks damn good though :slob:

Can't wait to see what the winter garden glass looks like!!

^ Is that a one story parking garage?

Domer2019 Jan 23, 2018 11:37 PM

This is gonna end up looking very Wolf Point West, huh. Wish it was lighter.

donnie Jan 23, 2018 11:45 PM

Does Essex own that garage? It be good for them for protected west views, but that would be a great lot to develop.

marothisu Jan 24, 2018 1:25 AM

Yeah - this is only a few floors away from being half way done regarding floor count. It'll probably be topped out in late spring/early summer.

Bombardier Jan 24, 2018 1:39 AM

Floor 22 and core from 24 to 25 pours tomorrow. Not quite half way... top off will be in July. Glass looks good up close.

I think once there's spring sunlight it'll look a bit more airy. It's def lighter than WPW.

That parking garage serves E-W University, and is managed by Impark (http://parking.impark.com/chicago-parking-lot-99). I'm sure they can be convinced to part with it for the right price, assuming the university has student/faculty parking elsewhere, or plan on reserving the rights to it on any new development on that lot (ala Holy Name with OCS)

I really hope they do some form of lighting on those fins on the north and south side. And not just the winter garden portion. It would really make this one stand out.

I'm really digging the slim profile of this tower. Its going to look amazing from Grant Park when completed.

maru2501 Jan 29, 2018 6:53 PM

agree the glass in that spot will look good and break up some color-monotony

Bombardier Jan 31, 2018 2:50 AM

Tower crane jump this weekend. Core will reach the halfway mark next Friday.
