Well don't forget that the building still has a crown (the empty box at it's very top), so that should give it a little more height

Wow, very aggressive schedule on this one, 810' to the bottom of the top floor means total height in the mid 800' range. Should help distract from OMP and it's even more heinous sibling OMPW. Can't wait to see cranes rising around Grant Park again! Sounds like next year is 2005 or 2006.

yeah, that's what i'm guessing too. that's why i'm leaving the 862' figure in the title until we get better info on exactly where this on tops out.

"bottom of the top floor" is a weird, and i would argue often useless, figure when talking about building heights. why is it considered important enough to be mentioned in these plan commission meetings?

The east (shorter) tower was the one approved and will be constructed first. There's no timeframe for Phase II that I'm aware of.

No... Perhaps about 100' taller.

Yeah... We're going to have to see some official blueprints as the 810' figure is to the underside of the slab of the most habitable floor. As you can see from the images, there's a bit more structure above 810'. In the 3rd image down, everything above the yellow is in addition to 810'.

If that is indeed the case, we could be looking at a height closer to 885' to the top of the... um... er, "chuppah?"

^ yes, i just carefully scaled the image and got an additional 75' above the yellow, for a total of 885'.

^The diagrams I posted also show 78 floors.

If it is 885 feet, and it's twin is at least 100 feet taller, then it's twin would be at least 985 feet tall! (Hurray for math!)

but yeah, i scaled up the image in cad to get the grade line and the top of the yellow to be 810', then measured what was left.

Working name for the project is Grant Park Tower. Also, it was mentioned at plan commission that financing is in place to start early next year. The contractor is McHugh, who is working to provide subcontract jobs to local minority owned firms.

They will probably settle on a more pretentious/trendy name.
My money is on "The Grant."
