I love how the buildings match the majority of washrooms in the rest of the park. I'm guessing they are designed like that to not take away from the beauty of the trees.

That could be part of it, but I believe most of the washrooms in the park were designed to function as tornado shelters.

Ooh ya, I remember hearing that too. I wonder if they were ever used for that purpose.

The new Wascana Park aquapark looks impressive. I hope the final product looks that good! Maple Leaf pool is spartan in comparison, but really, it will serve the area well.

I am glad to see the City of Regina is preparing for Global Warming, and the long, hot summers we will have in the future :uhh:

Looking at Buffalo Meadows Pool, I hope they rebuild it too like Maple Leaf Pool. That area of Regina needs love too.

Wascana Pool looks amazing. I know there will be people who say stuff like "indoor pools make more sense" but I have some great memories as a kid going to the Regent Pool in the summer and having a blast. We have dry, hot summers (getting hotter and drier by the year, but I digress) and this is a great way to spend some of those days. I can see myself taking my kid there multiple times a summer while making it a part of a "day-at-the-park."

It’s going to continue to get hotter and hotter further into the fall too.

Anyone know who designed the pool and who is building it? Looked for that info online but didn't find it.

yveseluj Jun 3, 2021 2:41 PM

PCL is building. Not sure who designed it.

Thanks for the correction. Must have heard the first P when I was half-listening to something and just assumed.

I think you were right. PCL is building it, while P3A are the architects, in conjunction with HMCA, who are the pool specialists.

Jeannie Mah is packing up her home in Regina's Cathedral area. The artist had moved back to her hometown of Regina decades ago to be in the Crescents and swim daily in Wascana Pool, but after seeing the new pool's concept she's moving away. Bye Bye

I'm not a huge fan of the pool concept and I kind of agree that it should have just been rebuilt the same size. However, Jeannie Mah is a horrible person who should be ignored. She was almost literally on the wrong side of every development and historical issue. Good riddance.

I assume she also protested against Connaught School being rebuilt into a state of the art school and also that nice 4 story building that turned into a 3 story eyesore.

Sort of a stereotype for Cathedral unfortunately.

Draftsman Jun 9, 2021 3:04 AM

I always thought her name was Jeannie Nah :haha:
