Speaking of the Thunderbird Legacy I wonder if the city approves the 285' height and the FAA doesn't what happens? Did the Summit at Copper Square have any trouble I was living out of town when it was construction.

FAA would just place a determination of hazard against the tower, but that in itself wouldn't stop the tower from being built. The City of Phoenix would make the final determination if it's too tall or not, but they would most likely side with the FAA and ask for the tower to be shortened. I wouldn't complain about a 255' footer getting there in all honesty.

That is a sweet pic from Jefferson Crested.

Next time will you use censor that monotonous frieze of triangles on the Convention Center South Building? ;) I was annoyed that they were considering shrinking the CC by redeveloping that, now I'm a little sad I got my wish.

Did anyone ever get a roof height on Adeline?

Diamonddave Dec 4, 2020 10:43 AM

I believe it's 291' total. The B if A. Building is around 360'.

I have to add, it's amazing what changes that have taken place with this view since I have moved here back in 2013. Imagining this view without Adeline, Block 23 and even the Cityscape Residences all not being there. I wish I had some comparison pics to post.

Rocket Mortgage will be the new name on the basketball arena. I don't know how it will be presented - center? arena? stadium?

I think Cleveland's arena is called Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, can't imagine it would be the same.

@asugrad, why is student housing "gross"?

Dammitt...PayPal would've been great.

Rocketmortgage? What? Quicken has like one regional office here

How do we get such terrible stadium names for real :hell:

biggus diggus Dec 4, 2020 11:35 PM

Rocket Mortgage has been a sponsor of the team for a couple of years but they've remained behind the scenes for the most part.

CrestedSaguaro Dec 4, 2020 11:43 PM

I would have been more OK with Cold Stone Arena than Rocket Mortgage Arena. :yuck:

michael85225 Dec 4, 2020 11:50 PM

The Suns arena's subsequent names just haven't been the same since America West Arena. I will always refer to the arena as that as it was the best sounding name by far and rolled off the tongue better. Rocket Mortgage Arena or Center? At least it's one word shorter than Talking Stick Resort Arena.

PHXFlyer11 Dec 5, 2020 12:55 AM

While PayPal or Carvana would've been great, I don't hate Rocket Mortgage. It's a massive company and it makes sense that they would want to be advertising in the Phoenix market with all of the growth here, probably not a better place they could buy advertising.

PayPal was nice because the colors didn't clash with the Suns. But Rocket Mortgage is Red, so I don't love that part.

azliam Dec 5, 2020 1:13 AM

Hmm...

Rocket Mortgage Center or Arena would have been good for...Houston. And the colors match.

exit2lef Dec 5, 2020 3:56 AM

It should be the Rocket Mortgage Launch Pad.

biggus diggus Dec 5, 2020 5:20 AM

I'm having mild concerns that my source is ill informed but he's a Suns employee. Don't get too excited just yet. It's probably rocket but when they announce it is when it's confirmed.
