https://brancra.wordpress.com/2016/0...-update-72016/ https://brancra.wordpress.com/2016/0...-update-72016/ https://brancra.wordpress.com/2016/0...-update-72016/ https://brancra.wordpress.com/2016/0...-update-72016/ https://brancra.wordpress.com/2016/0...-update-72016/ Considering how difficult it is to get any project through the approval process, these (and other ongoing construction) represent quite a bit of activity. |
Of course there is bound to be opposition to projects in Ithaca, here's a couple from the Ithaca Voice:
http://ithacavoice.com/2016/07/conte...e-scrutinized/ http://ithacavoice.com/2016/07/magui...alership-site/ And even one in Cayuga Heights (an upscale suburb): http://ithacavoice.com/2016/07/small...ng-over-board/  |
And so the process begins. Let's hope this one goes better than the last proposal. More pics in post #201 above. Article from the Ithaca Voice:

Seems the biggest downtown project is still a possible go (from the Ithaca Voice):
http://ithacavoice.com/2016/08/revis...city-approval/ Again, it's a wait and see. |

The first time I had a beer in a bar was at the Chapter House. I was a 17 year old senior in high school (the drinking age then was 18). The place was 2 blocks from my house.
The building housing the Chapter House and an adjacent apartment building burned down last year: https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/411/20...c49925f0_b.jpg Looks like there's a chance for a rebuild: http://ithacavoice.com/2016/09/plans...econstruction/ I'm hopeful this time the plan actually happens. |
I hope the powers that be in Ithaca (and the Nimby citizens) realize the city has opportunities to increase the tax base and, with some added effort, start to put a dent in the affordable housing problem. The results of a recent study show the need for many more housing units in downtown than are currently planned. From the Ithaca Voice:

And the process continues for the proposed Chain Works project (see post # 68), from the Ithaca Voice:
http://ithacavoice.com/2016/09/50009/ It's always something in Ithaca for developers to contend with. |
The final piece of the Ithaca Commons renovation is in progress. I don't have a rendering of the final product, but I will post a pic of it when it's finished. (from the Ithaca Voice):
