there is work going on on parcel P5, the little area between Arden and (think it is still called) Azure, slated to be a dog run, last I heard.

timbad, great pictures as usual. Thanks!

Also, I found this rendering of Block 6W. I don't think we've seen it yet.

And for reference, a map showing Block 6W and how it relates to the rest of Mission Bay.

Affordable what? It doesn't look like housing.

the map says it's housing

timbad Jun 18, 2017 7:21 PM

(pretty sure all the remaining housing to be built in MB is to be affordable. all market-rate has been built or is finishing up (block 1))

viewguy might just have been being sarcastic, but these details are from 1977's link:

Quote:

The mixed-use project is composed of 139 affordable apartments with 3,300 square feet of amenity and community rooms, 9,330 square feet of indoor/outdoor commercial space designated for a child care provider, and 14,840 square feet of outdoor space strategically arranged between multiple terraces and a central courtyard.

Not at all...I think it's a cool looking building and now realize it's part of a bigger project. This structure, in and of itself, doesn't look like housing.

Mission bay block 6w

Actually this was one of the proposals by Fourgeon Architects for block 6W low income residential - but it did not win.

Mercy housing was the winning bid. All of the details and the designs can be found here

WildCowboy talked about this a while back:

Some of the other grading and infrastructure going on in that area is for new temporary surface parking lots, which should open in about a month. They'll be closing the current Fourth Street parking lot (Block 23A) at that time in order to start construction on the new neurosciences building.

I believe the new lot for campus users will be on 16A, directly west of the utility plant. Some of the other blocks up there (15-ish) will be used for construction trailers/parking/staging for the neuroscience building project and perhaps the Minnesota Street housing project.

WildCowboy Jun 21, 2017 1:56 PM

Yep, parking to replace that being lost for the new neuroscience building, as well as for construction parking/trailers/staging.

In other UCSF news, Block 33 at the southeast corner of 16th and 3rd kicks off next month, with completion targeted for late 2019. UCSF is already working on the cancer building at the the hospital on the southwest corner.

UCSF has put together an overview of its six construction projects that will be going on simultaneously in Mission Bay/Dogpatch, as well as a Construction Impacts mini-site with details and updates on each project, including some non-UCSF projects.

I am confused. The new lot in your photos is on Block 15, but UCSF's info and maps say it should be on Block 14, the future school site.

I assumed they were going to be paving both blocks, with 14 used for university parking and 15 used for construction parking and staging. But unless your photos are old, UCSF obviously didn't open a public parking lot on Block 14 yesterday as they've been advertising.
