So "One Grant Park" then?

Arm&Kedzie Jan 4, 2017 9:27 PM

A solid name!

LouisVanDerWright Jan 4, 2017 9:42 PM

Certainly better than the "One Bennett Park" bullshit. Who the hell is Bennett anyhow? Just goes to show the difference between 'class' and class permiates all the way from aesthetics to naming conventions on these two projects. Hopefully it continues to the building materials as OGP is going to be a lot more visible than OBP (thank god).

How quickly my fellow Chicagoans are to forget the greats of years past.

I hope the glass is black like some of the renderings suggest. I'm getting tired of all the blue glass towers. Time to mix it up!

In what rendering and or model have you ever seen the glass as being black in color? Hmmm?

It'll be Clear Low-E glass and clear tempered glass for the railings.

Bennett a Chicago great??? How old you? I feel sad if you think Bennett could ever rank as a great with this football franchise. He doesn't even rank on the scale of greatness compared to Sayers; Butkus; Dent; Payton etc. I'm saying this with peace and love.

Haha. Yeah not "a great". but he's a great compared to the team that played this nonsense bullshit of a season this year. Can we call the wolf point south "The Fridge"?

There's something about this project that's gotten my attention. Yeah I'm watching Wanda and OBP too, but with OGP, we're putting a tower the height of Chicago First National south of Roosevelt. I remember back in 2004 or 2005 when they were talking about the south wall buildings being 400'-500'.

It's been making me wonder... Which tower do you all think will have the overall greater impact on the skyline, One Grant Park or Vista? They're in two separate parts of the skyline with a 300' height difference between them similar to Sears and Hancock, but which one will make the greater impression?

Also, it'll be interesting to see if any of these caisson go down to bedrock.

Vista will be more noticeable of course, but OGP, Essex, and 1000S will have the greater impact simply by extending the skyline by such a great deal.

UPChicago Jan 5, 2017 4:58 PM

Vista is the same height as Trump and that building redefined the Chicago Skyline, both will be impactful but Vista moreso!

It's hard to judge really. I remember when one museum park was completed (back when I didn't care about development) I thought it was at least top 10 tallest in the city. The impact that building has is huge, I can't imagine what another 170* feet will do to the skyline.

Vista is about 300 feet taller, but is in a pack of other really tall buildings. It's really hard to tell at the moment. I guess we'll see in 3 years.
