Yes, this is where they used to be. I remember we went to Circus years ago since I was young. I remember the old Arena and now, it's gone.

three questions:

1) the tri-rail extension to pompano on the SEC tracks, are these the same tracks that AAF would use until the junction? if so, hm.
2) how likely is it that the tri-rail funds will come through? and is it possible that miami is negotiating with them to tie their portion of tri-rail funds to the air rights issue?
3) do we know what portion of the AAF tracks will be elevated like they are at government center?

great news all around. looks like a fantastic project and that extra tower they've just proposed will be another great addition to the area. it's hard to imagine what miami could look like in 2020, with the station complex, the innovation district, the sky tower thing, the huge mall between the station and the water, and everything else in brickell as a matter of course. throw in the stadium, metro mover extension and who knows what else (genting development?) and it's pretty staggering. downtown miami is pretty much a massive parking crater wasteland, would be amazing to be able to walk/metro move between actual neighborhoods.

to answer partially my second question, it looks pretty good for the tri rail station at miami central http://miamiherald.typepad.com/naked...h-demands.html

Anyone out there have any inside info on what the coaches for AAF will look like? I know that both the loco (Charger) and coaches are being built by Siemens and a snippet I read says the coaches will be stainless steel, even though all prelim images show painted cars...

I don't have any inside information, but here's a link that shows all the existing Siemens passenger car possibilities excluding ICE 3 train sets.

Note: The modular designs accommodate both high and low floor platforms! ;)

as for getting tri-rail into the miami central, it looks like all it needs now is for the state to come through: http://therealdeal.com/miami/blog/20...mmission-vote/

so it'll be a hub for aaf, metromover, metrorail, tri-rail and trolley. a true central station. positioning miami very very well for the 21st century

eleven=11 Jul 27, 2015 7:08 PM

tri-rail gets more money today july 27

The $69 million dollar funding gap to bring the Tri-Rail Commuter Rail to the All Aboard Florida train station in downtown Miami is now intact! This is a victory today in S.E. Florida's mass transit system!
