That I agree with Hoover.

HX_Guy Feb 15, 2011 5:25 PM

They talked about the new "Lights District" on the news this morning and had an animation showing how it will look. I love how all the streets are lit up yellow as if that is actually going to happen. :D

Thats going to be obnoxious....

And why were you watching fox news? Support local! 12 or 3. Fox does nothing in or for the community.

westbev93 Feb 15, 2011 7:23 PM

But the Channel 10 morning team is so outstanding. From the two functional retards in that clip (Andrea and Rick) to the most outstandingly bad delivery of Ron Hoon (who has an almost cartoonish tone even when telling you about a child drowning), you can't go wrong with Channel 10.

Channel 12 is actually like a real news show. The local Fox affiliate is about as close as you are going to get to public access.

gymratmanaz Feb 15, 2011 7:45 PM

I agree about the news comments. I will have to wait to check out the Youtube when i get home. No access here.

You do know that Ron Hoon used to be on channel 12 in the morning right?

Used to. Used to.

Nobody has posted this yet to my knowledge. If you haven't been down there for a news cast, you should go. I love being goofy in the background during the news.

Is THAT what it looks like? That is pathetic. With all the hoopla, invited guests, bands, dancers and a possible Al Roker visit, THIS is what they did to open up the studios to the streets? Laughable and third rate. :yuck:

whats so bad about it? I mean other than the fact that the TV/On Air sign system never works right, it seems pretty cool to me. My goofy face can be on the news any time I want. :haha:

PHX31 Feb 16, 2011 5:37 PM

Yeah, it's not that bad. We went there one night after a show and were in the background. They were pretty cool about us (Mark and Lin Sue were smiling and waving at the small crowd that gathered during their breaks), our presence even made the weather guy go outside to do the weather. It's pretty "fan friendly"... not that they're real celebrities or anything.

I should say, it's dissapointing, not terrible. Just seeing all those valves right in front with the big box monitors, it's just underwhelming. I would assume it looks better a night. Just not what I was expecting from all the hype.

Vicelord John Feb 16, 2011 10:32 PM

those are flat panel LCD monitors, in boxes for protection and hiding all the wires and what not.

PHX31 Feb 16, 2011 10:52 PM

All those valves are now covered by a big metal box.

yes, they have been for a while. I took the picture yesterday so I'm assuming they were working on the valves when I took it.

I walk down there occasionally and I must say that it's better in person than those pics show.

I think the biggest problem is its location. It's not in an area with a lot of foot traffic and on the one side is a building with a big blank wall with no windows or doors.

Holy smokes, that is lame. Did the early 80s start over?

hahaha- yeah, its not great, but it really is cooler in person than it looks in pictures. And even though there isnt a huge amount of foot traffic there, people do walk by and watch the tvs or read the news ticker.

In mildly related news, crews have been messing with the old republic building all week, and it looks like they took off the cool bird facade by the doors and replaced it with a blank, beige wall. Thus making a shitting looking building that much worse.

Wow so today has been pure restaurant orgasm for me. My two favorite casual restaurants released great news.

First, Mexican food in front of Charlie's has opened back up after a 3 months hiatus. I have been praying every week and my prayers have been heard.

Number two...

Fantastic news and it is a lot closer to home/work than Pizzeria Bianco.

That's awesome. Wonder if they will take of the space Lux will vacate when they move next door in May. Fantastico! Buono!
