Why do you have a problem with that statement?

I'm not going to engage in an argument with you over something so trivial, I'm just curious why you reacted that way.

/\ I thought it was funny is all.

Does anyone know what is planned (or under construction?) on the south side of Moreland between 3rd and 5th Streets? Is that the native american connections project? If so, I totally mistook where that was going the first time I heard about it.

Yes that's one of the most publicized projects in the Valley. It's called The Grove. The Verizona 5G Performance Center - Suns/Mercury practice facility - is adjacent and connected.

Rumor has it Sam Fox wants to use this as his flagship for doing more boutique hotels so he's going to spare no expense on the first one. Should be pretty nice addition to the area. It's been awhile since we've had a new hotel in the area but we should have 2 now with this and the Ritz.

I believe I found the renderings on their listed architects website for Vela

The proposed development is called Vela Roosevelt and is a proposed 25 story tower (22 floors over 3 level podium) at 259' with ground floor retail.

All I have so far is a site markup. You can read through all documentation on my Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...TF?usp=sharing

^ The rendering works for Central and McDowell given the proximity to BMO tower and the indication of a 3.3 acre L-shaped site which is too big for Central and McKinley.

biggus diggus Jun 18, 2022 4:46 PM

Correct. Look at the first photo and there's a train station. Clearly that's not central and McKinley.

Digging the rounded slabs and subtle nods to streamline moderne. What a great look - something different that would be a great addition to the architecture of the area.

Agreed this looks amazing!! Does appear to be for the Central/McDowell tower however as others have stated. Now let's see what grocer is announced.

ASU fixed their downtown webcam. You can partially see the Central Station construction and also a pretty good view of the growing north downtown skyline.

Free, Multi-Day, Super Bowl Festival Coming To Downtown Phoenix

As expected, music festival occurring at Hance Park and the NFL SB Experience at the Convention Center. Hopefully they do a similar block party type atmosphere where you can walk around with alcohol.

I’m sure you they will allow alcohol at the park. I HOPE they extend the festivities along Roosevelt allow local vendors, small businesses and food trucks to participate in the festivities. It would be nice to have Roosevelt blocked off from 1st street to about 5th street street but that would be tough for locals living on street.

Yeah there has been hate on Derby and idk why, I think the former Link tower, and X society are much uglier.

Derby looks ok from the south, but the north-facing side is hideous. I really wish they would have followed through with the cladding that was in their renderings.
