Plan review filed for the little strip of land south of the Pyramid on Central that was discussed as for sale a while back. Plan Review document is short on details, describing a "mixed use office and residential building," but the name, "Central Containers" seems to imply another shipping container project.

Here's a close look at the facade on The Link. For some reason, it looks taller far away than up close.

I have a direct window view of the site from office, so I can confirm it is definitely not dead. |
Biggus keeps us grounded when we all get ahead of ourselves and overly excited.

Does anyone have any info on what is getting built South of I-17 between Central and to about 12th St? I drove by yesterday and noticed a lot of the old buildings there were razed and they are a lot of heavy construction equipment on site. Looks like a big project.

I saw a big lighted sign and lights on inside The Churchill last night when I was heading home from work. Is it open?

I don't do any active sales work either. Keep my license for investing and in case a good opportunity presents itself.

Couple of shots of The Churchill, which I now know is opening at the beginning of next month. I look forward to checking it out. I got these last night.

The Adams/Central project is beautiful; much improved over the 5-story Aloft from the boom days. It's less important that a tower there sticks out; it needs to bring the density/keys to support a really ped-friendly corridor heading to the Convention Center. Renaissance looks great, but left Monroe, 1st St, and Central with blank space and really, just renamed their former lobby bar along Adams. I believe the RFP requested or encouraged hotel or residential for the parcel.
Central > 2nd St is not intended to become a ped plaza, but to include infrastructure (a la College Ave) to turn it into a pedestrian zone for events, etc., in concert with the CC. I wish they'd somehow RFP the Hyatt and garage together so that there were two real uses toward 2nd, but for now, modernizing the garage, filling it (Phoenix Commons -dead?), and building out retail adjacent to the Hyatt is the only realistic option. I hate the new site plan of Renaissance Square; retail is succeeding on each block it fronts, and they are such prominent towers. Any chance in hell Wells Fargo would ever be sold? A midrise retail/office building in place of the garage, a few retail bays in the tower, and an upscale restaurant building near Orpheum would be cool. On the opposite end, the plan should have been for phase 2 to replace Symphony Hall with a mirror project facing an unabandoned Adams Street that would hit a cluster of restaurants at 3rd Street and run directly into Heritage Square with hotel or museum/entertainment along 5th Street where the exposed parking and plaza are. |
