How would one go about building a Skyscraper?

I would like to build a Skyscraper in Columbus, Ohio. Between a friend and a few extended family members I have potential access to hundreds of millions and billions of dollars: It wouldn't be a stretch to say I could get the money to do it.

Does anyone here know anything about how to proceed forward? I have a vision in mind. I have a site in mind. What comes next? How do SkyScrapers typically get built? What is the first step, the second step, the third step, etc. Does anyone on here know?

Thanks!

Well, is it just that easy? You just buy a chunk of land and start building? I mean isn't there far more to it than that? (permitting, feasibility studies, infrastructure improvements etc), especially given that one of the two sites I'm looking at would be in a floodplain? Can you build Skyscrapers in a floodplain?

yes just do it, you dont even have to buy the land. thats what i did

1) Purchase Property that has the right zoning for said skyscraper [you can't just building a skyscraper anywhere] 2) Hire a design team to create plans and look at zoning constraints (Hire Zaha Hadid since you must be rich) 3) Present proposal to City/County 4) Create construction drawings and submit for permit 4) Bid out your project to contractors 5) Construct your building

I'm sure the City of Columbus would gladly let me build on this parcel of land free-of-charge, however it's in a FEMA AE/100 Year Flood plain zone. The question is can you even build a Skyscraper in one of those zones? I've never heard of it, but the site is a prime real-estate location (and I'm building up, right?)

What I want to do is either copy the design plans from the Singapore CE LA VI, or design something similar and build it overlooking the (Downtown) Columbus Skyline on this plot of land.

I envision having one tower for Condo's, another Tower for a Hotel (Ritz Carlton?), and the 3rd Tower for Apartments. Then place a 5-Star "Rooftop Casino" on top.

So I "just do it" huh? :haha:

Edit: If option 1 doesn't workout, I'd like to build on this site downstream as option 2. That said, as I see it there's just not a lot of square footage for parking on this parcel of land. Plus access is a bit of a challenge, at least at the moment.

I am not wealthy. I have Family members and friends that are quite wealthy.

It should be stated that I just want to help design and build said structures - I have no desire to own them nor make extraordinarily large sums of money off them. Money is overrated.

Thanks for the feedback :)

How much you looking for? What do Skyscrapers cost these days anyways? $3.5 Million a Story? Hmm, 60 stories @ $3.5mil a story would be about $210 million. But then multiply that by 3 because 3 separate towers, so about $610 million? Sound right?

Hold up, let me cut you a check…

If you don’t mind me asking, what did yours end up costing per floor?

And the Heli-Pads. And the light rail connecting downtown Columbus to the Airport.

Seriously, though, Columbus is the next big thing you all. We got the Intel plant going in and are quickly gaining the reputation of the Silicon Valley of the Midwest. Lots of opportunities here, trust me.

Nah. Build it in Michigan. You're already there. Besides, everybody knows that Detroit, and not Columbus, is the next Silicon Valley.

I too have hundreds of billions of dollars, maybe even trillions, want to team up?

I think Columbus could use a stunning building to be a signature.

What do you think of something like New York's "VIA 57West" by Bjarke Ingels Group?

By New York standards it is like a stunning filler, but in Columbus it could be an amazing standout.

While I like VIA 57 West, I still favor the design of the CE LA VI Singapore for the confluence location. The idea would be to have 3 separate Skyscrapers all connected together: One overlooking the Scioto River to the South, One overlooking the Olentangy River to the North, and then one in the Center overlooking the Confluence of the two Rivers (and the Skyline of Columbus) to the East. Then connect them all together with some rooftop venue, preferably a Casino, or something along those lines.

But I don't know where Michigan (Detroit) very well. I know Columbus. I know Columbus well. An epic, iconic Skyscraper would work at this location, and work spectacularly well.
