well why do you boycott korean products then?
i actually think south korea has much better local architectural talent than taiwan judging from the pics i see posted in the korea threads. and they've built so many skyscrapers. seoul's developed a pretty expansive skyline. |
I personally don't see anything wrong being a nationalist who supports purchasing its own country's goods. There are times when I would do the same as well (ex. my acer laptop).
In addition, I c competition from Korean as a good thing - a pre-staging period before facing the rising China! Ever since joining WTO, Taiwan now has to be more globalized IMO. |
many people would know that korea is a direct competitor of taiwan when comes to high-tech goods. therefore, it is really either us or them. if you purchase a ram chip from the koreans then there is one less ram chip sold from the taiwanese. it is as simple as that. nothing else. nothing personal. (i've heard of how hostile the korean government is towards taiwan in the world stage. but i don't blame them. i mean~ if you want to earn chinese yuen then that's what you'll need to do. i know who is responsible for it.)
there is only so much demand from the world market. just want to do my part to help the taiwanese firms. you can help too! :help:. having said that, at the end of the day it is really the quality of your goods that will determine the winners. at the moment, mega korean firms are doing well around the world. i think taiwanese firms are requiring a bit of help from the domestic market. not that domestic market is big enough to alter much... |

Kuandu Wharf
was kinda free today. i stopped by the kuandu wharf on my way home to take a few shots at the bridge. hope you guys like it. the bike rental is kinda cheap!! $NT50 for 1/2 hour, max charge was like $200 for 3-4 hours. most importantly, all the bikes are NEW!!! from gaint i think. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...liasian/1e.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...n/2_resize.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...iasian/2rr.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...iasian/3rr.jpg |

When I was young, I went to my parent's friends home in the area. There were some nice houses with a view like this. I guess, this kind of view has been blocked by those new condos. |

Hey Kidd!!!
I've heard something about a vilöage from Acer---the computer firm! Is it real that they have their own high-tech village in Taiwan?? |
Haha... maybe the place where "Meteor Garden" with F4 was taped! :D
The richiy rich places! :) |
Tien Mu - Taipei
|
haha...
tien mu reminds me of Mister Donut! the stupid long queue is the obstruction to my progress to try my first mister donut!! the queue is an eyesore to me... |
oh boy.. i love mister donut.. the donuts are so much better than dunkin donuts' here!
|
stanford,
do you think it's worth the wait? i am still contemplating whether or not to queue up for mister donut! |
Hey, that's where I resides :) The three pictures above actually shows the very West (first pic) and very East (second & third pic) side of 天母. Any pics of central 天母that intersects between 中山北路and 天母東﹐西路?
Since Warner Brothers Village moved in (the light blue building bottom center of the third pic), we no longer have to travel far to watch a movie! Shopping here is already great, and probably one of the only things missing now is a MRT station (no, 石牌station isn't close enough) and something like a 錢櫃KTV nearby, although not directly in the hub of the suburb  -G'day- |
Oh, the number of people that line up at Mister Donut is crazy... you can even pay students to line up for you if you don't have time...
One of my bosses even bought Mister Donut directly from Japan upon his return from a business trip to share with us  But I gave my share of donuts to my mum and sister, so I have yet to taste them to date despite its close proximity! You could also buy Mister Donut in 維風廣場, and the waiting line there is almost equally as impressive  -G'day- |

I like how they light up the Tung-I building. From this angle, the building seem to have been imprinted with a shiny glowing CROSS, which fits in well with the panoramic night view of the Hsin Yi district! :) |
