Damn, they have almost totally demoed the buildings at 44th and Camelback!!!

Lots of ongoing construction and upcoming new food and dining but nothing major that would be news

We dont have a regular photographer chronicling the progress of construction so not much

I saw this when I drove by yesterday! I didn't know they were wiping the whole plaza out. Going to be a nice development when it's all done.

I just got word that a new infusion of capital and an interested hotelier is pushing a redesign of Central Station, this is causing the delay. Will become Phoenix's 1st 500 footer. Although Astra is coming through with an early Q2 groundbreaking, which will make it a race to build Phoenix's new tallest. This is shaping up to be similar to the Empire State Building/Chrysler Building 1-up-manship. Also, there's a spider on your back and a donkey sleeping in your bed.

So I’m a little confused on the projects going up on 6th St. Is Sky on 6th where the Grow House was? Is there another one going up where the grow house was and if so does anyone have a rendering?

Yeah, the Skye discussion with all that is here:

Roosevelt Neighborhood Update

Credit to RAA Newsletter for this excellent update:

Quote:

"For years we have had concerns about the fate of the vacant lot at 814 N. 5th Ave (next to the Teapot Coffee Shop). The lot is owned by the City of Phoenix and had a home on it that burned down over a decade ago. Last year the City issued an RFP and just announced the results of that process.

Roosevelt resident Matt Seaman, and his firm MetroWest Development is the successful proposer. MetroWest plans to move the historic Sargent Oldaker House from the southeast corner of 3rd Ave and McKinley, to the 5th Ave vacant lot, allowing more dense development on 3rd Ave.

This is a great step for the neighborhood, but unfortunately there are still many hurdles to overcome.

First, The City wants MetroWest to pay for the lot based on a current appraisal, and we all know what has been happening to property values over the last 6 months. A new appraisal may put the price of the lot out of reach. Second, all the construction along 3rd Avenue greatly complicates the physical logistics of moving a home just 3 blocks. RAA will continue to work with the City and MetroWest in an attempt to save the Oldaker House, and fill in an unsightly vacant lot."

This is great news and hopefully comes to fruition as it is a win-win overall. Empty lot gets filled up, historic home gets preserved, and then leaving behind an empty lot on 3rd Ave and McKinley ripe for dense development.

That all would be awesome. That historic house is really nice and fairly large. It's nearly as wide as the potential future lot itself. I wonder how that would work. I feel like this RFP for this 5th Ave vacant lot has been on-going for at least 2 years. Back then the lot price wouldn't have been so crazy high.

If memory serves me right, this is the 2nd go around w/ the RFP as I can't remember what happened w/ it the first time. But yeah...potential appraisal of lot may be a roadblock. Hopefully the City and MetroWest can get creative with price, development terms, etc to make this a reality.

Excellent! I have been hoping this would happen! Lets hope the lot appreciation doesn't jeopardize the project.

Does anyone know how to go back and search previous posts? I'm just curious when I posted that someone was serving at this property and told me it was to move the house. It must have been 2 years ago or longer. Slow as an iceberg.

I seen a hole being dug on Roosevelt and 6th ST. Is that something for APS? Why would they be digging a hole?

It's for the expansion of the APS substation. It used to occupy the southern half of that block. With the new addition, it will fill the entire block.

There is a search drop down menu near the top of the forum on the blue menu bar.

I wasn't having any luck and it kept telling me I need to wait. Oh well, it's not important.

It's an opening for Elon Musks underground transport system that he started in Vegas. They have already bored the thing underground all the way to Phoenix.

I usually use some crafted Google searches when I have to go back and look something up. Everything's indexed there.
