Giant secures waterfront site for yet another Philadelphia store

https://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...t-another.html

Behind paywall can't read, but I think this is somewhere down south columbus blvd and tied to a new project, so I think we can count on this project getting the green light.

^Before the paywall goes up I can read "Tower Investments," so this concerns Blatstein's gas station and grocery fronting those waterfront townhouses. It says the site was formerly eyed by Lidl. I think this would be an "Heirloom" branded store.

Property management and construction. Hundreds of job over several cities. So hopefully like 100 in Philly.

If you disable javascript in your browser, the bizjournals paywall doesn't work :)

Hope they aren't using any CDNs.

Or you can do a quick Ctrl+A, Crtl+C before the paywall pops up and paste the article into a word doc.

46,000-square-foot store at at 1401 S. Columbus Blvd (Blatstein's site).

No tricky needs of disabling JavaScript or cookies or whatnot... even with the paywall thing, the full text is still in the page source..

If you're just looking for the FULL article text, its pretty legible if you don't mind ignoring some random HTML. Using your browser, do "View Source" [ctrl-u, or meta-u] then search for "content__segment" a few times..

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.

Your image didn't display. Another tip — once you find the big gob of HTML that contains the main text of the article, copy that section and paste it into this online tool: https://www.striphtml.com/

A post on Reddit said the parking garage at Broad and Pine is due to close permanently at the end of the month. Possibly starting the demolition soon for the new tower?

Oh! Can't think of any other reason that garage would close even it demo doesn't start immediately. It took them awhile to get going at 11th and Chestnut after the stores all closed and parking ended. But they are now doing so. This is great news!

So to move the discussion to a more appropriate thread, GoPuff announced that they're building their headquarters at 3rd and Spring Garden.

Is this new construction? Anyone expect it to break 100'?

^
I heard 30,000 square feet or is that what they are currently in and looking to get into a bigger bldg for more new hires...

bigfish Jan 22, 2020 6:59 PM

If you go on street view you can see the building (Finnigans wake) under renovation to the point where the new mural has been removed. I imagine it is already in progress then, if anyone is in the area you could get updated pictures. The pictures are from November 2019

Makes sense for them to go vertical here at the same time as the new Drexel building - I bet there's efficiencies in using the same subs at both sites that can significantly reduce the construction cost compared to doing it standalone.

Also at the end of the article:

Quote:

While One uCity is under construction and the next office-lab building is being designed, the development team is also moving forward with a new 460-unit apartment building at 3700 Lancaster Ave. That project is expected to break ground in the next couple of weeks.
So there's going to be quite a bit of construction happening over there shortly. The new school, the Drexel health sciences building, One UCity Square, and the apartments. That area will be radically different in a few years

CDR Submissions are up for February!

Most exciting project is Cathedral Place, the development around the Basilica. Looks like it's going to be a great project, and include a Phase One 245' tower, and a Phase Two 685' tower.
