^No. Must be west of the river.

The shorter building is Roosevelt Collection, which is east of the river:

The taller building on the right is 1000 S Clark, which is almost next to Roosevelt Collection. Also east of the river:

^I'm familiar with those buildings (I live in this neighborhood) but I'm not sure what that crane is for on the south side of Roosevelt.

I was thinking "This poster HAS to know these 2 buildings..." Thanks for pointing the crane out - could barely notice it. The only thing over there I know about which has a crane or hoist tower is the new 4 story, 169,000 sq ft data center they're building at 1432 S Clinton St (https://therealdeal.com/chicago/2019...in-south-loop/). This looks a block or so north of that - so not sure how much sense it makes.

There’s definitely been work happening on the 78 site this week. I assumed it’s related to third phase of the Wells-Wentworth connector, but the equipment is all in front of the bridge opposite of Roosevelt Collection, not Wells Street. From what I can tell, there’s a crane, a tall vertical drill, and dozens of metal beams laying around. I took this photo on Tuesday but it’s pretty grainy. I heard a loud rhythmic pounding that sounded like foundation drilling this morning.

Confirmed. Let the bananas fly!

Mr Downtown Apr 25, 2019 7:31 PM

Curb lanes of Roosevelt were closed last week for some kind of deck repair, so that seems the most likely explanation. Wells-Wentworth should first involve backhoes, not a crane.

The pounding is pilings being driven at 711 S. Clark.

The loud pounding could have been the new CMK building being put up at 717 S. Clark Street. For the foundation they are using a pile driver. It is insanely loud and the sound carries decently far.

OK; looks like that's for Wells-Wentworth after all. Not sure what they need sheet piling for, but maybe they need to put a huge storm sewer under it. In an open field like this, you can usually just excavate without sheet piling.

I would think any 'deep' hole that close to the river would just fill up with water if they didn't use sheet piles

Especially on reclaimed swamp land

Glad to see the tif money in action

Well Yet another megaproject another lawsuit :yuck:

However...…..
Our lawsuit is not against this project in any way,” Scandaglia said. “It’s just saying, ‘Hey, remember us? We were here at the outset and that if we had faith in this thing early, we’d get a return in the deal.’”

Yeah, this is nothing to worry about

Any news on when the 15th St station construction might start?

Mr Downtown Apr 27, 2019 4:52 PM

2022, maybe?

SIGSEGV Apr 27, 2019 7:08 PM

No picture, but the crane looked farther south today.
