Yeah the street facing side is good, just needs a neighbor

230Roberto May 4, 2018 3:01 AM

^^
The site has potential I think. Isn't it the former site for Park Tower?

left of center May 4, 2018 3:57 AM

^ I believe that was the old YWCA further south on Michigan. They were supposed to preserve the facade and build the tower behind it. Plans fell through, and the building had to be demolished due to its very poor state or repair.

Such a shame. I liked that one, and its crown. I'd like a Madarin Oriental type of design on one of those Mich ave. Lots.

Hilton Homewood Suites/Hilton Garden hotel.

10 May 2018, taken from State Street with 30 E Balbo on the left. You can just barely see the NEMA crane to the left of 41 E 8th and the crane on the far right is for the Hilton Homewood.

Oooh i love it, nice shot

WhatTheHeck5205 May 11, 2018 6:29 PM

Overall it’s turning out great, but I’m just slightly disappointed at how visible the vertical rows of opaque “spandrel” glass are on the long sides. Although I suppose as people move in and start installing different blinds and things they should become less prominent, am I right?

Bombardier May 12, 2018 12:27 AM

^it is rental, so blinds are all the same. But you are right that this won’t be as noticeable when people are occupying the building.

View from Adler Planetarium. This is having a bigger impact on the skyline that I would have guessed in the beginning.

With how short everything within a few blocks of it is, this one will feel like it's 900 feet tall for a while

Notyrview May 27, 2018 3:24 PM

No doubt what an impact

From Left to right -- One Bennett park - Vista Chicago - Essex on the park - Nematode - Paragon.

And with Homewood Hilton on the left edge.

UrbanLibertine May 29, 2018 12:28 PM

How many more floors left before this one's topped off?

Bombardier May 29, 2018 5:22 PM

^the 48th floor (and core from 50-51) is being poured today of 57. It will top out around the first week of July depending on weather.

Honestly, the Congress has some prime lots to build some HUGE towers. Only a matter of time if we are being real with ourselves. Same goes with those lots that the L cuts through in that area. Some skyline changers in 20 years will be there, no doubt about it

donnie May 31, 2018 1:49 AM

Give that bridge a paint job and put some lights on her and she will be an instant celebrity!

Sunrise, storm & sunset. Not best example, but recent discussion around color reflecting against the skyline can also be seen in the morning.

Man, that South Loop cluster is looking seriously mean.

Add in 1000M and GP2 and you arguably have the Midwest's 2nd largest skyline.
