I imagine this will be relatively slow to rise considering its girth.

(Insert jokes here.)

ha yeah.

we will see. my experience watching these go up is everything is slow now due to major challenging foundation issues in nyc, especially over rail. then things go pretty steady and even quickly at times until the crown, where things then slow back down to a crawl again. they would say that is because of ongoing interior work, but i suspect its contractors soaking the developers as long as they can before they have to finish up the towers! :D

Giggity

I think once it begins to rise, we’ll see pretty good progress. That’s usually the case, and we’ve seen it with wide towers like the Spiral, and 50 Hudson. The relative low number of actual floors plays a part also.

That's true. Taller floors mean higher growth per floor.

Drcastro Oct 22, 2021 6:12 AM

Can anyone tell me, are they welding those massive east-west multi-part beams together, or are they just bolted?

JACKinBeantown Oct 22, 2021 1:08 PM

They look like bolts to me. But they could then do some welding. How's that for an answer?

Drcastro Oct 23, 2021 3:34 AM

There are definitely bolts, and plenty of them. But many of the pieces seem to have what looks like sections of I-beam running diagonally through multiple pieces, which seems odd unless the plan is to unite them via welding.
