I took the information from what was posted on this forum.

"Berger Hotel" does not imply it's going to be called The Berger Hotel by Hilton or something like that. It's a hotel, it's being developed by Berger, so I'm calling it Berger Hotel until further information is available.

So when will the illustrious business journal credit our hard work? Never.

Where is it exactly clear that they lifted from us? Facts cannot be copyrighted and if we know it certainly others do as well. We just post things public that are often collected in private like the AZBEX database that goes miles beyond anything biggus or I could muster.

I mean even if they did use this compilation of projects news as their source, we take their content and post it here. So an arm for a leg?

CrestedSaguaro Oct 18, 2018 3:56 PM

There are no renderings in the PBJ article that can't be found on the developer websites...for which we also get the renderings from as well. It's not like we are creating the renderings.

With that being said, yes. I do feel that a few articles have been based off what has been posted here as articles tend to turn up right after our discussions. That's OK with me. We must provide a lot of good development updates!

True North Studio, LLC, a commercial real estate development company located in Phoenix, announced a new project in collaboration with Choice Hotels International, Inc., one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors. The Cambria hotel in downtown Phoenix – Roosevelt Row Arts District has started construction and is set to open in late 2019. The award-winning Oxford Hotels & Resorts, LLC will manage the operations of the hotel, including the food and beverage venues.

True North Studio is the developer of the project and is working with Tempe-based architect DAVIS and Scottsdale-based general contractor UEB Builders. The lender is Lowe Enterprises out of Los Angeles. True North Studio is working with Artlink Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, on a formal call to artists to commission local, national and international artists to create exterior murals and an iconic sculptural shade structure to be placed outside the hotel entrance.

The seven-story, 127-room upscale hotel will feature a rooftop pool with cabanas and bar, boasting panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges, downtown skyline, and music festivals at Margaret T. Hance Park. Upon entering the Cambria hotel in downtown Phoenix – Roosevelt Row Arts District, guests and locals will be greeted by a welcoming lounge area that includes space for working, networking and hanging out. The ground floor café, restaurant, and rooftop amenities will be open to hotel guests and locals.

Located at 222 E. Portland Street, just south of the I-10 Freeway onramp, the hotel is in the historic Evans Churchill Neighborhood of the Roosevelt Row Arts District. With numerous arts venues, hundreds of local businesses who support the arts, and over 100,000 new visitors each year, the Roosevelt Row Arts District is a continuously evolving canvas that has become nationally recognized for arts, culture and small, locally-owned businesses. Guests at the Cambria hotel in downtown Phoenix – Roosevelt Row Arts District will be able to see Margaret T. Hance Park when lounging at the rooftop pool. The building is within walking distance to the light rail, Phoenix Biomedical Campus (TGen, ASU, UA, NAU) and many downtown music venues, restaurants, galleries, museums, and shopping.

“As one of the largest and fastest-growing cities in the country, anchored by rising tourism, a rich corporate presence, and thriving arts scene, Phoenix is the perfect destination to welcome several Cambria hotels,” said Janis Cannon, senior vice president, upscale brands, Choice Hotels. “Cambria hotels are designed to reflect the neighborhoods in which they are located and the Roosevelt Row location is no exception—guests can expect it to capture the spirit of the community and inspire them to explore, engage, and discover all Phoenix has to offer.”

True North Studio was founded by Jonathon Vento. Vento has more than 30 years of experience developing more than 200 projects across the country, including 44 Monroe, a high rise residential tower in Downtown Phoenix.

“We’re most excited about being part of the Roosevelt Row Arts District, which is a top arts district in the nation and a priceless gem of Phoenix. We’re honored to work with Choice Hotels on this project and look forward to introducing a hospitality product that truly mirrors the vibrant culture and authentic essence of the neighborhood. Guests and locals will love visiting the new Cambria hotel in downtown Phoenix – Roosevelt Row Arts District,” said Vento, principal developer, True North Studio.

The good news is, if it's now on UEB's website, construction should be starting any time. Also, Cambria is already digging the foundation holes and placing the rebar support. This one will go up quickly.

Let's hope AC and Palm Court all start soon before the Stewart crane disappears. It will be amazing to see 3 more tower cranes in the skyline!

More than that, the Filmore apparently is coming too which will add a short but visable crane or two especially coming from the west.

gymratmanaz Oct 18, 2018 8:03 PM

Posted on the project page but might as well ask here too.... Do we have a new project list with an ETS start date for each?
