I developed an understanding of staggered construction watching Vista tower go up. Talk about massive floor plates. As I was typing out an explanation I remembered that scene in Trump Tower Build It Bigger, I love those construction docs. Was a better use of my time to link you to it  |
This site is definitely worth seeing in person, esp. since you get since a nice view from above

Construction sites at night are my favorite when they have the flood lights on. Will always remember the Vista crew drilling caisson holes under those lights deep into the evening, snow whipping around, 20 degree wether, etc. Badass. |

That site is a monster.

Nice shots Solar.
|
So I have a question about the current site. What is with the columns going up around the area for building I? There are clearly a few columns being constructed there as can be seen in a few of Solar's photos. Also, if you look on the Vista webcam (https://www.vistatowerchicago.com/webcam/), columns can clearly be seen in the lower left hand corner of View 3. I know that building I is not schedule to be built now, nor has it received permits but what is with the column work on that site?

Here's another view. |
Thats got to be just some combined park space where the the base floors will eventuall combine. Kind of like WPE is built out on the river waiting on WPS's riverwalk to be built.

I love seeing giant blank walls vanish.
