^ I'd just recommend putting up a flat panel judging how fast any pic you'd find would be out of date! :skyhighmind:

Papago Park with a telephoto lens is a good one. You can get one from South Mountain that way too. Buchanan Street gives you a view from the south. From the east, 17th Street just north of Van Buren has good views. From the west, the Capitol plaza is a nice spot.

Yep, I've actually brought that up before too. Specifically, the local media outlets always use outdated stock...some I've seen even without Cityscape!

I agree with Haux. Papago Park and South Mountain are the best I have found if you want to get some of your own. But you need a good strong zoom lens and a clear day with a low particle count.

Best I kind find are shots from when the courtyard Marriott was under construction.

this I think is the most up to date, probably from like late 2016:

This is the most recent picture I could find. The Link is making a huge impact on the skyline and the new hospital really overwhelms the old one.

This sounds very promising: https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...189&j=84833051

Sorry, but what does that article say in general?

Yeah, I think I saw that one somewhere too. Not too bad.

I love that pic, where'd you find it? Do they make a canvas of it?

I apologize...It's about the Monroe Street Abbey development. I since found another related link: https://www.azfamily.com/news/histor...5bb0c8127.html

It appears it was already mentioned in this thread over a year ago, but at least now it's official!

Here's some renderings: http://jonesstudioinc.com/project/monroe-street-abbey/

Interesting how much work is going on over there if they are yet to secure financing.

Glad to finally have an update after basically hearing nothing after last year. If there are major restaurants lined up like the video in that link says, this sounds like it should have no problem coming to fruition.

New Pizza Spot?

Looks like more retail activity is happening to the west of downtown

A pizza spot is opening at the warehouse, currently attached to the "We Got Flowers" building. SW Corner of 5th Ave/Van Buren. Work is ongoing and they're removing the stucco on the outside to expose the brick!

Yes work is definitely being done but it seems slow going, ive seen people working on the interior some nights, there is bathrooms and stuff on site and obvious brickwork going on based on the pallets of bricks on the property.

I think its a bit odd that they are working without secure financing as well.

haux Nov 5, 2018 7:13 PM

Here's progress as of yesterday on Block 23. Sorry they're all vertical. I brought a telephoto lens and wasn't planning on taking construction photos, but then walked past the site. This was the best way to get in the height.

I walk by this on the way to Cibo and the Crescent Ballroom, so many buildings in this area are dead to the street, will be nice to see some life. It's also across the street from the future 201 Van Buren/HB Monroe project. Between these projects and the forthcoming Fillmore project, West Downtown will be seeing quite a bit of action.

Also strange that the AZ Family article is written by their morning weatherman - Maybe tracking development is a hobby for him as well?

Exciting times, and the best news is that it is going to get even more busy - construction-wise!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Block 23 Residential Pic:

So, what the heck are those 2 big holes on the 2nd and 3rd floor (on the photo with Hard Rock Café in the foreground) going to be for? Are they planning on having a spiral staircase or something?

Yeah could be a fancy staircase between amenity floors, like Gym, Business Center, Hangout room etc.
