This is Klaksvík, the 2nd largest city in the Faroe islands. Quite an unusual place, by the looks of it. These are real pictures, not computer renderings.

thanks Cirrus (a proper username for this thread)
the above camera is pointed towards the southwest of Sao Paulo, and is missing the denser areas of old downtown, Paulista Avenue, etc. anyway, for people to locate themselves. the big triangular park in the center-right of the photo is Ibirapuera. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=sao+p...o,+Brazil&z=15 in its upper triangle vertex (poiting up) there is a mass of buildings then a bit to the right a rectangular green area. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=sao+p...o,+Brazil&z=17 its very distant so we cant notice (at this resolution) the size of the buildings next to that rectangular green area, but here it is the area at GoogleMaps https://maps.google.com/maps?q=sao+p...o,+Brazil&z=17 this is the area http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/4933/mn07bafv0.jpg (posted by Fabio at this SSP thread http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=131991) oh, nice, at that same thread I posted some interesting aerials of São Paulo, by Gerson Ibias the same Ibirapuera Park, on the top right, seen from another angle (in the almost opposite direction) http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9...IMG_3000xl.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9...r/IMG_2998.jpg Paulista Avenue http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9...IMG_2996xl.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9...r/IMG_2993.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9...o/IMG_2181.jpg Ibirapuera close-up http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9.../IMG_4013x.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9.../IMG_4012x.jpg old downtown http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b9.../IMG_4011x.jpg |

Hard to believe that so much beauty can be crammed into such a small piece of real estate.

San Francisco has to be the most dense city in the U.S. outside Manhattan.

At one time, San Francisco's "Chinatown" was the most densely populated urban neighborhood in the U.S. Nobody knew exactly what the population was. But in the postwar era, more and more Chinese (children and grandchildren of the first-generation immigrants) began to move to the west side of town and even out into the suburbs. I haven't checked, but I'd say the overall density of SF is probably that of the average of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

As usual, SF is a showstopper.
