^^Not true. Most apartment buildings with a footprint under 15,000 sf achieve a 3-day pour cycle for typical floors. OGP is currently on a 4-day cycle. It will achieve a 3-day for typical floors after the next setback.

It's upsetting to me that the empty lot immediately to the south of OMPW has townhomes planned for it. Its just such a sheer drop off in density, PD unit counts be damned. Any way the developer can petition for an increase in density? Or would that spark off a whole new round of community discussions and aldermanic appeasement?

I use chrome and they come up fine - worth trying a bit as they are some stunning shots from a unique vantage point.

This one is pretty crazy in person. Just seeing how big OMP is since it has nothing to battle with, just makes it crazy to imagine how big OGP is going to monster over that. And we can only expect more from its future brother.

What will it take to have the Metra electric tracks through Grant Park fully covered? I worry that there won’t be any impetus to do it once the South Loop is fully built out. They should be getting developers of these buildings to contribute to that project in exchange for density bonuses or TIF district designation.

How much longer until glass installation?

Concrete and steel mostly, maybe with a little dirt on top?

They've been talking about covering those tracks since the Central Station development began in earnest in the early 00's. Probably pretty unlikely that the developer will pay part/full cost of that at this point. And seeing as the city's budget isn't exactly doing all that well, we would need state (good luck with that!) and federal funds to execute that project.

I think it will eventually be done, but not for a long, long time.

The impetus will arrive when there are 30k more people living in that neighborhood and tons of people are bitching about it.

Nothing is happening for at least 20 years, and tbh I'd rather nothing happen to the tracks north of Roosevelt. Train infrastructure is a our history, provides beautiful juxtaposition between the graceful skyline and our rugged past, and to put it simply, trains are badass.

As for the tracks between Roosevelt and McCormick? Yeah, hopefully they get decked by 2040
