The sign looks nice at night. Via the The Walsh Group. IMO, very clean and crisp. Classy in many respects.

Not a very recent photo, as I took it on 2/11/2023, but I'm sharing it because Salesforce Tower is rarely seen from this perspective:

Looks great from the river and like how the base is coming together. Should look really nice once the landscaping is completed. Is there restaurant/retail space planned at the base? Would be a great spot for Summer/Fall outdoor dining.

3/20 Chicagohange
I popped over to Wolf Point quick on the Equinox to take a few shots, and maybe catch Chicagohenge. These are some moodier edits, but, it's par for the course when you're shooting into the sun. It's really wild how similar in height the towers appear from certain angles. I should have tried to take the head-on shot from Lake St, but maybe next time out.

Amazing work, as usual Nick. Those vantage points where they look oddly similar in height is just another argument for disinterring the long-dead horse and adding 20 stories to Salesforce.

^ Probably the best this tower will ever look. That's all folks.

Stubby! Each of the set backs should have a few more floors to them at the top.
|
I've said it before, whether you love it or are disappointed by it I do not understand the comparative love WPE received on much of this forum and the disdain or disappointment that WPS has received. Is it all about expectations? I can't believe it is about actual design merits, given that I do not see anything notable superior about WPE compared to WPS.

Nobody expected the shorter tower to be revolutionary. However, this site was always pegged as a prime location for a beautiful building, and instead we are getting a typical glass box. There's so many other buildings along the river that stand out way better than this monolith. |

I also think the fins lack subtlety and give it too much of a pomo effect. |
I think both towers are solid B's.
But the site is A+++. That disconnect seems to really irk many here. If either tower had been built on the vacant old CME site, most would've nodded in approval, or at the very least given a "meh". I happen to really like the composition of the two towers, as brilliantly captured in Nick's fantastic shots. This is a really nice overall development, but not magical. |

Salesforce Seeks To Offload Large Block of Office Space in New Chicago Tower Software Firm Expected To Make Up to 125,000 Square Feet Available for Sublease in 60-Story Building By Ryan Ori CoStar News March 23, 2023 | 5:48 P.M. Quote:

^ For the floors they're not planning to occupy, correct? Just saw a post/article about them keeping their intended sq ft despite layoffs so this would contradict that

Decent-ish shot of the new plaza and the video-walls in the lobby.

Huh? If they're putting space on the sublease market, that is space they were planning to occupy (part of the lease they signed) but no longer are. They are just a tenant in this building. |

https://i.imgur.com/swKuKXe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dJcFfWI.jpg and the obligatory shot from the bridge https://i.imgur.com/tDwkfcB.jpg I agree with all the criticism people have leveled (heaped) onto this building, but really I think it's overall a nice building. My main gripe, like others have said, is the monotony of the facade. Really all it needs is something to give some contour to the setbacks and it would be a great tower imo. Thankfully, on clear days the angle of the sun at various times does the work of bringing the shape of the building into sharper focus. Plus, I'm optimistic the flatness of the facade will be mitigated as tenants fill in and desks, blinds, and general office clutter adds texture to the windows. |
A few from yesterday:
Strangely prominent from the Wild Mile https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 Electrifying View? https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 I kind of like it from this angle... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 light not doing any favors: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 |
The south facade needs more texture and is super flat when viewed dead on. The indirectly lit north facade is rarely viewed dead on so it actually has texture. Looks much better. Major whiff on that south facade, it’s so flat.

"The new Salesforce tower at Chicago’s Wolf Point ain’t no 30 Rock." |
This city really doesn't do well with prime sites development looking to knock it out of the park...Block 37 welcomes another to the group of missed opportunities...

^ I would say Trump tower is the only one of that bunch that really overachieved .... The salesforce location deserved something on that standard... even Vista which really isn't in a prime spot but the design and height are above average... the rest of towers are great but i wouldn't say there expected spots for something grand in design and height like wolf point.

video update from Walsh Construction on Twitter: https://twitter.com/thebiggreenw/sta...88207614103554
"Salesforce Tower Chicago -> Looking good and nearing completion" Arguably looks good, not great. Could've used another 100 ft or more and distinctive fins on the sides to break up the monolithic glass. But good video. |
A few shots from yesterday (4/14) - I did sky replacements to break up the monotony of the plain blue sky.

I used my tilt-shift for all these shots, but for this final one, I decided to use two horizontal frames stacked atop one another to create a wider image. Plus...the entirety of Salesforce barely fits in a single frame. https://i.imgur.com/qAWsGSy.png |

definitely this tower's (/development's) best angle, unfortunately couldn't be more of a statement to rival Sears

if anybody has any photos, im curious as to what this building looks like from the john hancock center observatory, and the sears tower observatory for that matter.

Tenants Yet?
Looks like they have some office furniture on some of the floors.
Are there any tenants occupying the building yet? |
The developer should have stayed with the spire as part of the design.
