Ya, instead they should put restaurants, wedding venue's, cafe's, high-end lounges, elevators etc. on Camelback Mountain instead. Biggus strikes again!

Am I reading this correctly? I hinted that if someone wants a view they can get one at 4x the height on top of a mountain easily and you're upset that I'm suggesting they develop Camelback?

You're making it hard to remain friendly with those kinds of posts.

I think he was making a point that there are amenities in an observation tower that you simply can't have on a mountain that some people want. There are other cities that have mountains, but also have observation towers and they do very well with visitation. An observation deck is just another way to view the city and an added attraction. Also, it would give you unmatched views of looking over the tops of Downtown high-rises that mountains can't provide because they are simply too far.

It's sarcasm. An observation tower near Downtown would be a cool attraction for the 99% of people that don't have access to a residential penthouse or office building + the amenities that I mentioned.

I know I've posted this before, but I'd love to see a tower like this, maybe more in the shape of a bird with a fire trail that gets lit up at night and actually looks like a phoenix rising:

That’s pretty awesome. Love Zipps!

I would love to see a version of the Singapore Supertrees around Hanse Park. Great city viewing, a chance to showcase succulents and other desert plants, and a lot of shade.

Never going to happen, but a guy can dream, right?

You hike that mountain, baby!

In the summer, when it's 110 degrees, I'll wave from the comfort of an air conditioned observation deck - beer in hand!:cheers::cheers:

Zipps is an excellent addition to Park Central. The dining choices are thin in Midtown from what I recall and Zipps will add nightlife and feed the lunch crowd. The fact that their locations seem carefully selected to offer this suggests Midtown is turning around.

The acquisitions of both the Financial Center and City Square should be noted for their redevelopment potential--lots of surrounding and underutilized land to plop something new down.

Who says I drink beer while I hike?

It would be a huge improvement to Hance or even what is planned for it.

I must to have gone to the Zipps in Tempe on an off night for them. I thought the service was lame and the food sucked. But it appears others feel differently.

That’s awesome, just what we needed Midtown as a new Midtown resident we dont really have a good sports bar. Zipps has great prices too compared to a lot of ur new different concept restaurants out there, perfect place to watch a game.

We've gone to the Tempe Zipps quite a few times before ASU games with decent sized groups and have all agreed the food is very pedestrian. I would never eat there just to eat. The TV situation for watching games is top notch, though.

When we want better food we'll go to Pedal Haus, instead.

You're not wrong. It's unsophisticated bar and grill food. Take away the signage and it could be tilted kilt or any other mid level chain sports bar.

Exactly, but perfect to watch a game. All their burgers are 10 bucks with fries, I can’t eat for that cheap at Five Guys or Shake Shack, lol. Even cheaper than Hooters or Tilted Kilt if I just want a beer, watch the game, and eat maybe a burger or some wings.

Obadno Apr 4, 2019 6:07 AM

Zipps is terrible, but its also the freaking best

Cant wait for it to open in my neighborhood.

Downtown and Midtown are conspicuously lacking in our hometown sports bar franchise.
