The answer is to tear down the baseball field and build an nba/concert arena there.

That, and another team will have appeal when the Phillies suck balls, which is more often than not.

I thought the Philles were a minor league team. Maybe a high school team. :haha: Just kidding. I think a minor league team in Camden would be great. This project is great. I was here about a month ago. Hopefully will do wonders for this area and spur some development back through the Rutgers campuses and take out some vacant lots and parking lots in the nearby blocks.

Already exists. It's called the BB&T Center.

I think a Phil's minor league team (at any level) would be very successful here, but unaphiliated clubs just don't draw much interest when there is a major league team across the river.

EDA approves $18.3M for Camden hotel

^^Nice! So, so far, we have an 18-story office tower, a 5-story office building, and an 8-story hotel all moving forward as a part of this project.

Looks like that leaves maybe two residential buildings left, another lowrise office building, and the second office tower.

Here is a nice video I found of the development:

Wow. So they want to build a hotel at 40 cents on the dollar.

Risky.

Nothing from nothing but what happened to the other Camden project out by
Campbells Soup Company ? I remember reading Subaru and some other companies
being willing to relocate in Camden because of huge tax credits . I don't see anything
in the data base or forum about that project . I think it was to be built on the old
Sears building lot ........

What happened to those 2 sparkling high rise towers?

If this sprawling midget of a building is the best this region can do for waterfront then we're in trouble.

This is going to be horrendous.

The two towers are still planned... have you not been paying attention?

It was always two highrises, and 3 or 4 lowrise/midrise buildings.

The highrise proposals got their sparkly VE'd out already.

This is a whole neighborhood, though. Around six blocks of new development.

George Norcross, partners, expand presence on Camden Waterfront

http://www.courierpostonline.com/sto...ont/680829001/

Quote:

CAMDEN - An investor group affiliated with Democratic power broker George Norcross III is expanding its presence on the city’s fast-growing Waterfront.

The partners, already involved in three projects valued at $353 million, have replaced Philadelphia developer Dranoff Properties at a planned $55 million apartment complex near the Delaware River, according to the state Economic Development Authority.

Last week, the EDA authorized a venture formed by the group to receive up to $20.4 million in tax benefits for the 184-unit complex. The group is made up of Norcross family members and executives of Cherry Hill-based NFI, a logistics company, and The Michaels Organization, a Marlton housing firm
