Yea the crown is really lame so far (hopefully i will be surprised when complete)..i know its not done yet but this buildings proportion are just out of wack..the crown just stops suddenly..like its not even completed..no tapering affect at all

That's an absolutely gorgeous photo Solar

Dang from that last picture it looks like this tower actually fits in decently well.

This is my least favorite building going up. What a flagrant mess that setback is. They aren't even trying to pretend they care about design.

Kumdogmillionaire Apr 27, 2018 6:24 PM

How spoiled we are that a building that would be the 4th best looking and one of the biggest in a city as big as Austin is something we can shit on and forget about a year from now. Pretty funny to think about

After next cycle, if the NBC lots are built on it'll be mostly hidden

Its a decent filler building. The proportions would've looked better if it was taller... but looking at that crown, maybe its better that it isn't.

Steely Dan Apr 27, 2018 8:27 PM

P-H had similarly awkward setback proportion issues with one museum park.

fortunately, this time, 465 N park is FAR less prominent.

Chi-Sky21 Apr 27, 2018 8:50 PM

It looks fine from most angles...but from the East it really looks out of proportion.

I just realized that this tower is basically a rounded-off version of PH's design for 352 N. Union.

maru2501 May 2, 2018 3:20 PM

nice density for that area I guess

^ Gorgeous shot! Thanks, Solar!

Sometimes, as a Chicagoan its easy to forget just how goddamn impressive our skyline is. Photos like this are a good reminder.

I really am interested in how this building looks from street level. Streeterville badly needs some de-sterilization from the experience of the pedestrian.

Kumdogmillionaire May 8, 2018 2:45 PM

Its base is 10 times better than most around it, buuuuuut... that's not necessarily saying all that much, because as you said, it is in Streeterville. I'm still wondering what the deal is with the small park that they were supposed to be renovating/redoing as part of the original deal for the project. Anyone have news on that?
