Remus city, version four!
Well, I started having a lot of trouble with that huge river:hell:
So I changed it:) It was such a big change that I thought it counts as new version... Remus city, version four! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/overview_zpsxb6mxxx2.jpg Here is a closer view! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/closeor%20view_zpskxaljnwc.jpg Here is a link back to the old thread! http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=213997 |
Wow that's looking really great! How laggy is your computer? Thats a heck of a lot of polygons!
|
Quote:
the polygons! And thanks for liking it:) Do you have a sketchup city? |
Well, I'm sad to say Remus city is no more:(
I can't get sketchup pro 2014 to revert to the free version, and can't find a download for the free version! The newest version is not compatible with my computer:X It won't even let me view the file! Which is really unfair! I guess it basically gone now:( Maybe many years from now if I get a new computer I'll be able to get a new version and hopefully it will still accept my old file! |
I really enjoy viewing your city. There has got to be a way to get a version of sketchup that will be compatible. You'll probably work it out sooner than you think.
Meanwhile, I'm getting ready to post an update for my city soon. |
I present, Uptown district!
http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Uptown_zpsps69nyla.png Another two thousand footer! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Tall%20building_zpsxxbvq0c0.png My version of the Hudson Yards! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Hudson%20yard_zpsmufmxyms.png The building in the middle of the others is abandoned! The city wanted to make it into a museum, but the workers said strange things happened inside it! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Mystery%20one_zpsvfhmmsu2.png Another inaccessible building thats supposed to be haunted! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Mystery%20two_zpslayrrwow.png A cool urban canyon! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Canyon%20one_zpsddvbbs3v.png Another one! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Canyon%20two_zpsifftv1xw.png Look up at the cool building! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Look%20up_zpssinn1ciq.png A great section of the city! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/View_zpsd79h4qvi.png Uptowns place in Remus city! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Location_zpsa7gt69fa.png A great view! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/East%20view_zpsb36twndu.png There are three skylines! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Uptown/Three%20skylines_zps77hfatv2.png Thats all for now of the city that never ends! |
I'm happy to see that Remus City is growing.
I like that three skyline view! I am waiting to see the infill between the skylines. |
Looks like Remus City has grown a lot since I last checked! It is huge, although I'm not sure copy-pasting city blocks is the right way to go. It could end up looking a bit monotonous.
I like the concept of three skylines and those skylines look quite interesting in their combination of shapes and colours. |

I'm experimenting with fog and shadows now... http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...rsion%20four/Foggy%20day_zpswv9rgjyz.png I'm adding one last section of skyscrapers, It will be part of midtown! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...20version%20four/Midtown_zpsr987oyvf.png After that I have to do the low-rise districts, with lower density on how far they are from the city center, the industrial district, the marina and the airport! Tell me what you think! |
I am looking forward to seeing more of your images with the shadows and fog.
|
I like how big your city is so far, and i really like those glass skyscrapers.
Here is a tip: If you want to go for realism, you might want to have multiple buildings per block, 4-6 skyscrapers per block, or more depending on the zoning density. And you may want large avenues connecting skyscraper clusters, or to go throughout your city. And maybe the mid-rise area could have small clusters of 200 to 400ft skyscrapers. Also you should build the airports a few miles from the clusters of skyscrapers. I will hopefully update Lakeport soon with version 5.0, it is going to use photo-realistic textures, which means i can bring back buildings from previous versions. |
Midtown district is in progress!
http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...0version%20four/progress_zpshg4xwio3.png My crazy architecture has returned! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...ty%20version%20four/look_zps88edcdha.png Several great towers! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...ion%20four/cool%20towers_zps1gzqb5m8.png Because this is the last high-rise district, I'm pulling out all the stops of my architecture. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...y%20version%20four/fancy_zpsko4drfol.png Those low rise buildings are a sort of market place for antiques! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...rsion%20four/weird%20one_zps01ucmgml.png The Remus city convention center! It like McCormick place, but with built in office towers! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...%20four/micormic%20place_zpsybxekl1w.png Weird skyscrapers... http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...y%20version%20four/crazy_zpsksrdhdxe.png The sub-pyramid! A residential building! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...rsion%20four/sub-pyrimid_zps89ewhrxv.png Thats all for now! I'm not going to do shadows and/or fog with unfinished sections of the city. Please tell me what you all think! |
Midtown has some uniquely shaped buildings!
I am trying to figure out where Midtown is in relation to the other parts of the city. Perhaps a map is in order. |
My vision of Remus City is starting to take shape!
The central area is ringed by parks and forest preserves! Here is the city's first above ground cemetery! before it, everyone was buried in the catacombs! unlike the grid streets above them, the catacombs are a maze of crisscrossing tunnels and chambers! much of it is uncharted as there where no regulations! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/cematary_zpsy29krgwl.png Here is a large park and a forest preserve! If I could, I would make a full scale forest, and since the city is an on island off the coast of Brazil, it would be like the Amazon! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/park%20and%20forest_zpsjzleumrs.png Here is the city so far! I don't know how to make a map... http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Full%20view_zpswpyxihte.png Although its four districts, everyone just calls it Midtown. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/central_zps0ch7qf3f.png This is what would happen if Roman engineering and development had never been interrupted... http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/fogy_zpsnvifbybu.png An urban canyon in the new midtown district. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/canyon_zpsda5a3giz.png Here is another mega complex! Diamond corp. center! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/dimond%20center_zpsgsa1sgn9.png Buildings jumbled together... http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/view_zpssbrvefki.png Old fashioned twin skyscrapers! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/Memorial%20towers_zpsxbr51d44.png Thats all there is for now...But Theres something special in development! Tell me what you think! |
I've made a sort of upper Manhattan/Bronx like area around Uptown!
http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/lowrise_zpsl3byuptz.png There are many residential low-rise apartments, and a few mid-rise buildings. Here is a view of those skylines! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/skylines_zpsqag33mst.png Here is Uptown from the park, that building in the center is fifteen hundred feet tall! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/uptown_zpshr66ahoh.png Thats All. Tell me what you think! |
I really like the view of those skylines (2nd to last pic) with the lowrise buildings in the foreground.
What I would like to see in your Upper Manhattan/Bronx area is a little more randomness....possibly a building here and there that is a little taller than the rest. |
I have a big new section of the city!
Central Park! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/central%20park_zps7rqpccqv.png This is the city's core area. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/city%20core_zps8plqsv5k.png I tried to make a view like you always see from new york of central park. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/park%20view_zps9ajflhlk.png The view from the north! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/the%20park_zpsfsnrjdde.png Thats all I have time to post now, so tell me what you think |
Looking good! I don't see those white lines you are talking about.
I hope you do a map soon. If you don't want to see your buildings in it, there is an easy way to do it if your city is flat. a) select "Top" from Camera/Standard Views b) zoom down till you are just a few feet above the ground c) select "Parallel Projection" from Camera d) zoom out to get desired view |
The fog and shadows really help in terms of realism. Those skyline shots look great and the fog emphasizes the massiveness of the city! Sweet!
|
My gothic bridge is finished and placed in the city!
http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/two_zps6a72ggbz.png Here's a view from the park. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/four_zpsnxnsyk3x.png The bridge on a cloudy day. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/one_zpsexwneh7t.png A view from above. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/five_zpszjklqqky.png Spanning the river are a huge bridge and a small bridge. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/three_zpspouszoda.png Thats all for now! Tell me what you think! |
I was waiting for you to incorporate the Bridge into the city. It gives your city a whole new dimension!
|
The bridge fits in very well and gives nice character to the city. I like it a lot!
|
Here is a new district in progress!
On the right is an Americanized area, with many large parking lots! On the left is a less wasteful area! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/zone_zpslkqhbnqv.png The residential marina! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/marenia_zps8gr0rudx.png A skyline view from the marina! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/water%20house_zpsh23jash7.png Low-rise apartments with a parking lot. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/small%20buildings_zpsjduttlmu.png A high density area near downtown. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/new%20buildings_zpsapbwojaf.png Thats all for now! |
I like the marina idea + the skyline is starting to look really good! The mix of high and low rises gives the city a nice character.
|
The city's shipping marina is complete!
http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...city/marina%20view%20one_zpstbbm1fve.png Here are the piers with cargo storage! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...ty/marina%20view%20three_zpsosfypvhf.png And a few old office buildings and apartments! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...city/marina%20view%20two_zpsyueo0fpn.png Thats all, I'm planning on doing a section where some really ancient buildings from a lost civilization where found and are being excavated! |

Well, I have not been on here for a while!
I've actually not been feeling very well! My new pet had to be put down, and I've been sick! But, I'm better now, so I'll post what I have done in my city! The ancient city that was buried by a volcano over four thousand years ago! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/full_zpsmoaihwl4.png The big pyramid rivals the great pyramids! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/very%20old_zpslei04xjv.png Smaller pyramids. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/old%20city_zpslaxyqbf8.png An old torn up palace that was wrecked by the pyroclastic flow! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/damage_zpskbiv2eow.png The ancient city sites thirty feel below the level of the roman city! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/building_zpshgcepegq.png The road was paved right through the ruins! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/city_zpsuk47rgeg.png Here is where it is in the city! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/new%20section_zpsik548egv.png A full city view! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/dragonkeeper1/New%20city/Full%20city_zpswvselprn.png Thats all for now! Next is the modern government district! |
Sorry about your tough times. Glad to hear you're doing better!
I think they should make a movie about this city, its history is so colourful :) |
Quote:
And a movie would be great! Here is the layout of the government district! http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566...ity/Goverment%20district_zps13ojmwyf.png The large block is where the palace will be! There will also be a monolith in the center of the park! Tell me what you think! |
